At some point while on Lannik, Piell had a confrontation with terrorists. Despite winning the battle, he lost an eye and had extensive scarring on his face, wounds he viewed as a badge of honor.
Piell dies in Tano's arms. Seeing this, Tano quickly dealt with the anooba and rushed to Piell's side. She made to get help, but Piell, knowing that he was dying, instructed her to listen and memorize his half of information on the Nexus Route.

The lieutenant complied; he ordered an AT-TE to open fire on Offee, blowing her remains to ashes. As Offee died, lightyears away, her former master perished also.
