Kylo Ren's obsession with Vader is clear, but Star Wars never explained how he acquired the helmet. It is speculated that he may have found it himself on Endor, or it could have been passed down to him by Supreme Leader Snoke.
Ben Solo only discovered the truth about his grandfather when Casterfo revealed it to the Senate, which means Leia had lied to him for almost 20 years. This discovery is what led Kylo Ren to finish what Darth Vader started and began his obsession with following in his grandfather's footsteps.
Kylo Ren was always obsessed with his grandfather. He didn't learn he was the grandson of Darth Vader until he was a teenager, when a recording from Bail Organa - intended to be a private message for Leia - was shared with the entire galaxy.
It is revealed that Ren is the son of Han and Leia, originally named Ben, and was once one of Luke's Jedi pupils. He was corrupted to the dark side of the Force by the First Order's Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis), and helped destroy Luke's new Jedi Academy.
Does Kylo Ren know Darth Vader is Anakin Skywalker?
Despite seeing Vader as an idol, Kylo conveniently ignored his grandfather's redemption. He was well aware of what happened, and it's likely Luke himself who told Ben about the events of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi.
Well remember that Vader was the father of both Luke and Leia. Leia conceived a child with Han Solo, named Ben Solo, or later Kylo Ren. So Vader is technically Ren's grandfather from his mother's side, and Luke is his uncle.
Ben was corrupted by both Snoke and Palpatine to fall to the dark side since his childhood, with them planting seeds of doubt on the boy's mind about the Jedi and his family.
Not only did Ben care little for the Jedi, he also viewed Luke as the person keeping him away from his parents. And the strict rules of the Order only made matters worse, as Ben felt they limited his potential, and forced him to forgo attachments.
While they may not have had romantic love for each other, they became close enough that Rey would miss him after his death. The kiss at the end of The Rise of Skywalker was a goodbye to a friend who would be dearly missed.
Kylo Ren wanted to be the next Darth Vader, fundamentally misunderstanding his grandfather. Another key reason why Kylo would never be the next Vader was that Kylo was a Knight of Ren, not a Sith. While both religions used the dark side, and red-bladed lightsabers, the two had different philosophies.

Kylo Ren's "unstable" lightsaber was designed to kill. Knowing Makashi, he would become a much more dangerous foe as he could disarm and eliminate his opponents far quicker without the need to endure a long, intense fight. Sadly, he didn't learn Form II as there was no one around to teach him during his younger days.
Kenobi's hesitance to fight Vader, and his fear of this despite beating Anakin before, all comes from Kenobi's intense guilt that has been building over his 10 years in hiding.
Born on the planet Hyperkarn in 15 ABY, Rey Palpatine was the daughter of Dathan and Miramir. While their names were lost to history, Rey's father was the cloned son—an artificial genetic strandcast—of the resurrected Darth Sidious, making her the granddaughter of the fallen Galactic Emperor and Dark Lord of the Sith.
Following Palpatine's final defeat and her own resurrection, Rey adopts the name Rey Skywalker to honor her mentors and their family legacy and renounce her lineage. As the last remaining Jedi, she makes it her mission to rebuild the Jedi Order.
Finn was in love with Rey, or at least fascinated by her as one of the first people he met after breaking his lifelong conditioning. It is unclear whether Rey ever reciprocated his feelings. She never overtly rejected him because he never overtly made a move.
Why Did Rey Bury the Lightsabers? Since Luke and Leia, her masters, have become one with the Force, this is her way of honoring them by putting their weapons to rest. It also shows that Rey is burying the past while carrying it with her — both in her spirit and in the lightsaber she now wields.
I suggest that when Ren's emotional outbursts, impulsivity, and unstable self-concept are looked at more closely, there is plenty of evidence to suggest that he suffers from Borderline Personality Disorder and that perhaps he is simply not just a cold-hearted villain after all.
Their battle was interrupted when Leia used the last of her strength to reach her son in the Force. While Kylo was distracted, Rey ran him through with his own lightsaber, leaving him mortally wounded.
This caused him to attempt to assassinate him in his sleep. Needless to say, Kylo Ren is almost definitely a significant threat. However, we cannot definitively say that he is more powerful than Luke. Kylo's powers are vast but they are still highly unbalanced and difficult to control.
But this is actually a very sad reason because it actually had the opposite effect, and he deeply regretted his decision to kill his father and it haunted him for the rest of the trilogy. Also, Han was telling him that Snoke was using him, but one of the reasons he killed him was to impress Snoke.
After Rey died while killing Palpatine, Ben transferred his own life essence into her, sacrificing himself in the process so she can have another chance at living. Ben would have been 30 years old at the time of his death in the Star Wars franchise.
After Kylo's confrontation with Rey in The Rise of Skywalker, he's left to ponder all his decisions and regrets while surrounded by the ruins of the Death Star. Harrison Ford then makes his surprise return as Han Solo, who forgives his son and provides Ben Solo the closure he needs to leave Kylo Ren behind.
