Mordor was already an evil land before Sauron and the Elvish name Mordor was used for that land long before. The reason was Orodruin, which was one of the Morgoth's devastating works created in the First Age that gave a bad reputation to the region.
Retreating to Mordor, Sauron then directed his power over the far south and east of Mordor conquering and dominating the savage tribes of the Easterlings and the Haradrim. Almost a thousand years later, Sauron was captured by the Númenóreans and brought to their island kingdom, eventually causing its destruction.
After the Battle of the Pelennor Fields, the Army of the West marched to the Black Gate. Sauron sent his army to destroy the Men of Gondor and Rohan at the Battle of the Black Gate, but then Frodo Baggins destroyed the One Ring and Mordor fell.
But, whether Adar knew it or not, he unlocked a door Sauron helped lock and wanted to open. Sauron made the key—Theo's sword hilt—that freed Mount Doom and created Mordor, a land first revealed in Sauron's symbol-map. It's where orcs and other devotees of evil will serve the new Dark Lord, not Adar.

Who ruled Mordor after Sauron?
After the defeat of Sauron in the War of the Last Alliance, Mordor was taken under the control of Gondor, and the Gondorians built fortifications around it to prevent the return of evil things.
Sauron was originally a shape-shifting fallen angel and could take on various forms, including a vampire and a werewolf. Sauron's final form was terrifying and demonic, reflecting his own hate and evil, and he did not wear armor in the books.
The wizard called himself "Saruman of Many Colors" and "Saruman Ring-maker," indicating his covetous nature led him to try to make a Ring of Power for himself. Still, it lacked the strength of Sauron's or Gandalf's, so the former White wizard joined the Dark Lord in an attempt to claim some of his power.
Finally Sauron came out to fight Elendil and Gil-galad face to face. When Elendil fell, his sword Narsil broke beneath him. Isildur took up the hilt-shard of Narsil and cut the One Ring from Sauron's hand, vanquishing Sauron.
Gondor was the most prominent kingdom of Men in Middle-earth, bordered by Rohan to the north, Harad to the south, the Cape of Andrast and the Sea to the west, and Mordor to the east. Its first capital was Osgiliath, moved to Minas Anor in TA 1640.
Since their will was not bound to Sauron now, it is more likely that they ran away in terror and scattered across Middle-earth. After Sauron's defeat, Aragorn and his army killed the remaining Orcs in Mordor.

The Eagles just simply would have been too large, and they wouldn't have been able to physically drop the Ring in the fires of Mount Doom, as there would have been no way for them to enter it. Why didn't Aragorn take the undead army to Mordor?
The Army of the Dead, originally men of Dunharrow, were cursed by Isildur to fulfill their broken oath, which they did when helping Aragorn defeat Sauron's forces in Gondor. Aragorn chose not to send the Army of the Dead into Mordor because the potential risks would be devastating.

Morgoth is the more powerful of the two. Morgoth was the mightiest of the Valar, a group whose weakest member would outpace Sauron. However, there are some circumstances and eras in which Sauron would win the day. Morgoth was born far beyond Sauron but lost and surrendered much of his power.
The majority of her powers come from her Ring of Power, Nenya, the Ring of Water. The ring, also known by the names the White Ring and the Ring of Adamant, is one of the three Rings of Power given to the Elves of Middle-earth in the Second Age.
Bloodlines are very important in Tolkien's stories, and it makes a lot of sense that Sauron would fear the great-grandson of the man who cut off his hand. Aragorn carried the blood of Numenor with him. His genetic connection to the heroes of the Second Age established him as a dangerous opponent of Sauron.
As previously stated, Gandalf is a Maia and is therefore superior to Elves regarding power. Still, this isn't to say that an elf couldn't develop enough skill and power to defeat a Maia. As a bearer of one of the Three Elven Rings (Nenya), Galadriel would have an edge against Maiar like Saruman and Radagast.
Mainly Eru for going against his will and siding with Morgoth. After the fall of Morgoth and Sauron's rise to power his primary nemesis would be a collection of leaders who opposed him: Gil-Galad, Elrond, Cirdan, Galadriel, Celeborn, the line of Elros and the Numenoreans.
His theft of the Silmarils and wars against Elves and Men encompassed much of the history of the late First Age. Eventually, Morgoth was bound in chains by the Valar and thrown into the Void, leaving the permanent damage his evils had done, and his former lieutenant Sauron, to trouble the world.
