Seeder had grown up in the poverty-stricken District 11, so she could go for long periods without food or water, which helped her win the games. Seeder didn't have any particular skill or talent — she was just able to stay hungry and survive longer than the other Tributes.

Wiress most likely won with some sort of technical trap, being from District 3, whose residents are renowned for being proficient with technology. Since her district partner, Beetee, is in his 50s, it is possible that he was her mentor for her games.

Katniss briefly mentioned that a previous stroke could have caused Mags' garbled speech. However, post-traumatic stress disorder could have also caused her speech incapacity.
