As he furiously impales Jason's body with a metal fence post, two lightning bolts strike the post, restoring Jason as a revenant with superhuman strength. After killing Hawes, Jason dons his hockey mask (which Tommy has brought along with him).
He and Hawes exhume Jason's casket, but before they can cremate the body, an infuriated Tommy begins stabbing it with a steel fence post. The post acts as a conductor for an ongoing lightning storm, and Jason is resurrected from the dead.
How did Jason Voorhees come back to life as a kid?
Apparently, after Jason's initial death from drowning, his mother found a book that could resurrect him. Thus, when he came back, he had otherworldly, super-powered abilities.
Six months after his death and funeral, Jason was resurrected. Talia Al Ghul, who had been keeping an eye on him since the Zero Year, retrieved Jason and used the Lazarus Pit to restore his body and mind to full health. Jason would later remember seeing Talia looking down at him in fear as he was reborn.
While attempting to destroy his body, Tommy inadvertently resurrects Jason (C. J. Graham) via a piece of cemetery fence that acts as a lightning rod. Now possessing superhuman abilities, Jason returns to Crystal Lake, renamed Forest Green, and begins his killing spree anew.

Why was Jason brought back to life?
Most likely, Jason was initially brought back to life by either his mother—who some believe may have gotten ahold of the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis (Book of the Dead) from Evil Dead—or by a curse placed on the land by demonic spirits or even by the blood spilled on the land from an unknown past.
Jason was thrust into the world of heroes and villains by Batman. If he were to kill the Joker, Batman would feel a level of responsibility for that. Also, a major theme of Batman, in virtually any medium, is guilt. Batman doesn't want Jason to have to bear the guilt of killing the Joker.
Almost 4 years later, after Sookie agreed to stake Bill, leaving her heartbroken, New Blood has been released to the market and the Hep-V epidemic is ended. Jason and Bridget are married with many kids. The last scene shows family and friends of Sookie and Jason enjoying dinner at the Stackhouses.
To resurrect himself, Jason must find and possess a member of his bloodline, but he can also be permanently killed by one of his surviving relatives using a magical dagger.
