In the Star Wars universe, Grogu belongs to the same mysterious and unnamed species as the iconic character Yoda. The reason Grogu is believed to be a member of the Yoda species is mainly due to his physical appearance and his connection to the Force.
Given that Grogu, Yoda, and Yaddle are the only known canon members of their species, it makes sense why some would try to draw a connection between the three of them. While Star Wars hasn't disproved the theory, it's highly unlikely that Yoda or Yaddle were Grogu's biological parents.
According to the events of "The Mandalorian" so far, Grogu and Yoda are not the same character. They are simply from the same species. The name of this species has never been revealed since "Star Wars" creator George Lucas wanted to give Yoda a sense of mystery.

Grogu is said to be 50 years old. The Mandalorian takes place a mere five years after Return of the Jedi when Yoda died. If we take the Client on his word and assume Grogu is precisely 50 years (as opposed to 50-ish), then he was born in 41 BBY, the same year as Anakin Skywalker.
To be clear, Grogu is not a younger version of Yoda since "The Mandalorian" is set after "Return of the Jedi," in which Yoda (played by Frank Oz) died. They are, however, of the same species — but that species has not yet been revealed. There are more similarities between Yoda and Grogu than just looks.

Grogu may be the child of Yoda and Yaddle, potentially conceived purely to help preserve their incredibly rare species.
