In the chaos that followed, Loki attempted to kill Thanos but ultimately failed. When Loki taunted Thanos by telling him that he would never be a god, the Mad Titan snapped his neck, finally killing the God of Mischief.
He pledged his undying fidelity before revealing his true intention—getting close enough to Thanos to attack. However, Thanos predicted Loki's move and snapped the God of Mischief's neck in front of his brother, killing him. Loki died telling Thanos he would never be a god.
Loki tries to use his abilities as a trickster god to turn on Thanos and kill him, but Thanos quickly stops his arm and breaks his neck. After Thanos kills him, that Loki's MCU run is over.
Loki goes back to the loom, transforming into the god we all know and (sometimes) love, and destroys it as his friends look on, telling them he knows what type of god he needs to be. He finds himself entangled among the branches, physically gathering them and pulling them with him as he becomes the god of time.

Why did Loki sacrifice himself?
Loki sacrificed himself to save everyone on every timeline. He also saved the TVA, a place people can now choose to serve freely. Some like Mobius opted to leave the TVA behind and go home. Others decided to stay because the TVA still serves an important purpose.
Here, holding on to all of the timelines, he became a kind of tree god, physically representing the Norse tree of life, Yggdrasil. It was a poignant and painful ending for Loki, who now seems to be sentenced to being alone for eternity as he watches over the timelines.
The spell was permanent, making it so Loki only reverted to having blue skin when touching a Frost Giant or one of their artifacts. Since Loki's appearance was a spell, not just an illusion, it could not be broken or reversed by Odin's death.
Mjølnir: Thor was wielding the magical Uru hammer, which he had lost when he was banished from Asgard. However, before Thor could retrieve the Mjølnir from S.H.I.E.L.D., he was killed by Hawkeye.

However, a scene in Thor: Ragnarok shows the God of Thunder (Chris Hemsworth) explaining that a young Loki once turned into a snake and stabbed him. With Kid Loki's affinity for blades, it's possible Thor died due to a prank gone wrong, signaling the TVA to arrest the young God of Mischief for Thor's murder.
In addition to his penchant for smarmy sarcasm and his ongoing quest to become comfortable with his past and identity, Loki's defining trait in the MCU seems to be his stubborn refusal to stay dead. To date, Loki has died — or at least appeared to have died — no fewer than four times in the MCU.
When Ragnarök, the end of the world as predicted by a seeress, came and the Bifrost broke, Heimdall blew his horn Gjallarhorn to awaken the Aesir gods. During the final battle, Heimdall fought the evil and treacherous Loki and they both died.
By saving and organizing every existing timeline, Loki has become the God of Time — a higher being who keeps the past, present, and future of every universe from being erased by outside forces. However, Loki has also become the God of Stories, as he has placed everybody's personal journey above his own.
Predominantly, Heimdall hates Loki because he is part Jötnar (a member of a group of giants who serve as one of the primary antagonists of the gods) and partly because he can slip in and out of Asgard outside of his watchful eye.

Odin dies in one of the many battles that take place during Ragnarok, defeated and eaten by the wolf Fenrir. In Norse mythology, Ragnarok is an event that resembles the end of the world, but is something more. It is a series of events that prepare the world to be reborn - a cleansing, so to speak.
In the 2019 film Avengers: Endgame, Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr.) steals the infinity stones from Thanos and transfers them to his own suit. When Iron Man snaps, he gets rid of Thanos's army, but this action kills him.
In his exile, Odin apparently thought over all the acts he had done and likely felt remorse over them, as he showed no hostility towards Loki and even noted Frigga would be proud of him. He also admitted that he truly loved both of his sons and expressed remorse for failing to stop Ragnarök.
In his comic book appearances, Loki is depicted as the Asgardian God of Mischief, a cunning trickster, and a master of Asgardian magic and sorcery. After learning of his true origin as a Frost Giant from Jotunheim, Loki grows jealous of Thor and frequently plots to take the throne of Asgard for himself.
In Thor: The Dark World, Loki faked his death and tricked Odin while Thor was busy stopping Malekith (Christopher Eccleston) and the Dark Elves. In order to regain the throne of Asgard, Loki somehow enchanted Odin and sent him to Earth despite the Norse god-king being far more powerful.
Meanwhile, the events of Endgame and Loki gave fans hope that Thor would get a chance to see the person Loki became, easing the grief from seeing his brother's death. Unfortunately, the Loki finale all but ensures that won't happen. There is one small glimmer of hope, though.
Is Loki more powerful than Thor? Loki isn't more powerful than Thor ,that's why he seeks mjolnir. I will say he is more powerful without bringing mjolnir to the question. Although he is more versatile having powers Thor doesn't,Thor is far stronger physically though and mjolnir can dispel magic spells.
In the Loki season 2 finale, Loki becomes a living embodiment of Yggdrasil. In Norse mythology, the tree holds all Nine Realms together, controlling all life and death. In the MCU, this is redefined to hold all of the multiverse, with Loki now at its center – making him the literal God of Time.
