Why didn't Han Solo pay Jabba?
Why didn't Han Solo use the reward money he got for rescuing Princess Leia to pay back Jabba the Hut? He tried, just like he told Jabba. But things kept getting in the way- like crises with the Rebellion, andhelping to hunt for a new base first. Then in legends the reward got stolen, so they had to get it back first.
In James Kahn's original novelization of the movie (from 1983, based on the shooting script), the scene concludes as such: “Foul beast that he was, Jabba poked his fat, dripping tongue out to the princess, and slopped a beastly kiss squarely on her mouth.”
Jabba knew who Leia was. However, the last thing he wanted was an Empire presence any where near Tatooine. The Empire was known to be vicious and untrustworthy.
