There were definitely some scenes taken right from historical records. Salah-ad-Din did have Reynald de Chatillon slain in front of Guy de Lusignan after Reynald took a cup of water that was meant for Guy to drink. Most of the characters are historical. But the story as told is pretty much all made up.
Because of his ever-worsening illness, Baldwin often concealed his physical appearance. He wore a mask at all times so that his face could not be seen by his people. He lived this way right up until his death, ultimately succumbing to his illness and passing away with his sister Sibylla (Eva Green) by his side.
What happened to Kevin McKidd in Kingdom of Heaven?

Kingdom of Heaven is a really good movie. The plot is somewhat historically accurate and does a great job portraying what the crusades were like. I would highly recommend this movie.
Does Kingdom of Heaven have any inappropriate scenes?
Some strong language. Parents need to know that this movie has several one-on-one fight scenes, as well as extreme and explicit battle violence, including sword-fighting, head-chopping, limbs-lopping, impaling, fiery catapults firing, buildings and bodies burning, and blood spurting.
The kingdom of heaven is like hidden treasure that has been found because it brings joy. In the parable Jesus speaks of a man who, “…in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys the field” (13:44). The man that Jesus describes is so filled with joy that he risks it all to obtain more.
From a personal standpoint, the movie emphasizes the value of moral fortitude and moral judgment in our daily lives. Regardless of religious or cultural differences, it serves as a reminder to put integrity, empathy, and justice at the top of our priority list when dealing with people.
