David challenges Michael to a deadly motorcycle race, which Michael loses, and invites him back to their hangout. While at their hangout, David taunts Michael before eventually offering him wine, which was really blood, turning him into a half-vampire.
In the final scene of The Lost Boys, Max (Edward Herrman) returns from his date with Lucy only to discover that his "boys" are dead. He looks over David's fallen body with shock and sadness before revealing to everyone that he is in fact the head vampire.
