In the autumn of 2003, 19-year-old Catherine Chandler's mother Vanessa was killed by two unknown hitmen; those men chased Catherine into the woods to kill her, too, but she was saved by a mysterious humanoid beast.
Why was Catherine killed off on Beauty and the Beast?
When the series returned for its abbreviated third season late in 1989, Linda Hamilton had announced her decision to leave the series as she was pregnant at the time. It was a decision that, along with the network's desire to attract more male viewers, would have serious repercussions for the show's continued survival.
But Tuesday night, the “Beast” was back--with a two-hour season opener that killed off Linda Hamilton's character, featured much violence and mayhem and proved that chaste romance can't last forever as Catherine gave birth to a child fathered by Vincent.
Vincent recognizes her as the girl he saved nine years before. Eventually, Catherine comes back later on her own, and finds Vincent. He begs her not to tell anyone he's alive, and she leaves, but is intent on getting answers when she sees an article about her mom's death in his belongings.

Cat starts a relationship with Gabe, a previous beast, now turned ally, while Vincent starts to date Tori, a wealthy socialite who has discovered that she is also a Beast.
A bit later, Vincent is introduced to Catherine — a girl sharing the same name as his girlfriend. The two hit it off at the Stray Sheep, a bar the main cast of the game frequents. Catherine forces herself onto Vincent, later leading to a love-affair as the two return to his apartment.
The true ending is very similar to the good ending. Vincent will marry Catherine and move to the Underworld, but there will be an additional scene where Vincent becomes a demon as well. As a demon, he overthrows Nergal and takes over the throne with a group of succubi surrounding him.
What happens to Vincent at the end? Vincent doesn't die in any of the 8 proper endings, but if you get a game over (and actually follow it through, rather than selecting Retry), you get treated to a little scene where Vincent is discovered dead in his bed in the morning.
The Beast dies in Belle's arms before the last petal falls. Belle tearfully professes her love to the Beast, and the spell is undone, reviving the Beast and restoring his human form along with his servants and castle. The Prince and Belle host a ball for the kingdom, where they dance happily.
Meanwhile, a deadly explosion lands Joe in the hospital where Catherine discovers that she is pregnant and debates how to tell Vincent, but as Catherine begins investigating the explosion it leads to her being kidnapped by a powerful crime syndicate led by a shadowy figure.

In 1759, Catherine became pregnant with her second child, Anna, who only lived to 14 months.
