Ares is the strongest of the Olympian gods on par with his half-brother Hercules, and because his strength comes from a magical source, that makes it twice as bad for Superman who has an inherent weakness to the mystical arts.
If we consider what the comics show us then Ares is cannon fodder for Superman. King Shazam who is an Amped Shazam literally breaks Ares's arms like a twig.
Although Ares was at his strongest, he found Zeus' power and skill to be too much for him to overcome and although Ares managed to inflict considerable injuries on his father, Zeus eventually won and not only did Ares fail to kill Zeus in combat, he also was severely wounded and banished from Olympus by his father.
Darkseid suffered a definitive defeat in the History Lesson and he was fortunate to escape with his life because Ares came incredibly close to killing him. But while the Greek God of War nearly struck the killing blow on Darkseid, the ruler of Apokolips was already substantially weakened by Ares' allies.
As do all Olympian gods, Ares possesses tremendous strength, though he is now perhaps the strongest of them, rivaled only by his half-brother Hercules. Moreover, he is a master of conflict and strategy with centuries of experience in the field, and has complete telekinetic command and mastery over any weapon or armor.
Although he has been sent back to the underworld time and time again, Ares is never truly killed and can ultimately never be defeated. Thanos may be quicker than the Greek God, but he is in no way as powerful.
Ares loses because he believes that being the God of War means he always wins. If he can lose to someone who isn't on his level powers-wise like Wonder Woman, he'd have even less of a chance against Thor, who can match him in godly might and experience. Thor would beat him silly, making a mockery of Ares.
Weaknesses: Because of his arrogant and brutal nature, Ares can be extremely reckless, overconfident, narcissistic and foolhardy, leading to him making crucial mistakes in a confrontation. He is supremely confident in his abilities, to the point of believing that he is invincible.
After Wonder Woman makes short work of Ares' lizard army, we are treated to one of the best hand-to-hand clashes between the two in recent memory. Wonder Woman ultimately bests Ares, running her sword through his back (although not his black heart).
Athena defeated Ares several times. During the Trojan War, she attacked him with a boulder. Athena also helped Heracles (Hercules in Latin) defeat Ares through a non-fatal wound.
Although he was the God of War, he was not the strongest of the Gods. Athena defeated him on several occasions, and also Hercules bested him. In classical art, Ares is shown to be a fully dressed warrior, wearing a helmet, armour, and carrying shield and spear.
Although he was impressed, Ares picked up a broken pillar and hurled it into the desert, which flew into Pandora's Temple and struck Kratos in the chest, impaling him to a wall and killing him.
The distraught Bruce puts the helmet on and immediately becomes a merciless engine of destruction, decapitating Ares before moving on to kill the rest of the godly pantheons.
While kryptonite is Superman's greatest weakness, he's susceptible to other forms of energy and threats. This makes Billy Batson — aka Shazam, the World's Mightiest Mortal — one of Superman's greatest opponents. Batson can transform himself into an incredibly powerful adult body when he says the magic word "Shazam."
Unfortunately, Ares is simply too dangerous to be kept alive. After he once again attacks Themyscira, Diana realizes he is too great a manipulator. She decides to remove this threat from Earth. Resolute, she uses a battle axe to split Ares' helmet — and head — in two.
In Greek mythology, nobody could kill Ares because he was immortal. However, in various computer games and comics, he was killed by various characters, including Wonder Woman. However, Ares was humiliated and beaten quite a few times, especially when he had an adulterous affair with the goddess Aphrodite.
Zeus and Hera didn't particularly dislike Ares, they just didn't respect him much. Ares is always portrayed as childish, bloodthirsty, and wild. He will join a battle just to make it bloodier, not caring who lived or died. Athena hated him, and no god respected him except maybe Aphrodite, due to her love for him.
Athena is the single most prevalent foe of Ares, the two were the ultimate symbol of war, two siblings with the same station but who were so different they were always ready to fight one another.
This would depend on which versions we are talking about. Zeus is a sky-father and is the equal of Odin, Thor's own father. And Odin would beat the jeebus out of Thor in a heartbeat. So naturally, Zeus would win the battle.
In general, the Ares is better as a support weapon to play while providing suppressing fire and moving around the map. Medium range angles can also be held with this weapon, though long range ones might be tricky. The Odin, meanwhile is highly recommended for holding angles, regardless of the range.
Unlike the other gods, Ares is particularly impulsive and sanguine and knowing the human soul, he decided to actively help Theseus and his friends in an ambush right away. However, his intervention will lead him to death at the hands of Zeus himself.
