Now that the landbridge which connected the island to the mainland has been destroyed, he and his parents cannot get off the island. In the TV series, Chomper has been accepted into the Great Valley and currently lives with Ruby in a cave.

Chomper dates back roughly 68 million years, from the Late Cretaceous period. The fossil was discovered in Garfield County, Montana in 2019, and took years to unearth in its entirety. Parts of the process were documented by the Discovery Channel series “Dino Hunters.”

One interesting note is that Chompzilla is female, while in previous games, Chomper has been consistently male. This is important to note as Chompzilla would serve as one of the primary factors to Chomper being referred to as female in more recent installments of the Plants vs. Zombies franchise.
The films follow the friendship of a group of young ornithodirans (four dinosaurs and a pterosaur) named Littlefoot (a male Apatosaurus), Cera (a female Triceratops), Ducky (a female Saurolophus), Petrie (a male Pteranodon), and Spike (a male Stegosaurus).
However, Spike isn't intended to be the equivalent of a dog because we're shown that he's just as intelligent as the other dinosaur characters, but simply doesn't prefer to speak. This is proven by the fact that when we see other stegosauruses in the sequels, they're perfectly articulate (one is even a Motor Mouth).
When he was grown up into a teenager, he was sent back to the Great Valley by his father, Bron, and his grandparents to lead his friends as his own herd. After things changes, he gets upset and mad for being to little when he tried so hard to reach things bigger and higher than him.
If Bron hadn't been introduced into the series as Littlefoot's father, it is entirely possible that Doc could have been the father. Apatosaurus and Diplodocus are so closely related in genetic terms that successful interbreeding is possible.
During the drought seen in the original The Land Before Time, Bron left his wife and parents-in-law in search of a better land, so that when his child hatched, he would not be raised in famine, or in danger of the Sharptooth roaming the region.
Ducky is actually referred to as a Saurolophus in the Land Before Time sing-along video and in some concept art for the original movie. Adding to the confusion, proper Parasaurolophus are depicted alongside Ducky's species throughout the series.

The canonical, Bambi-like death of the parent occurs when, late one night near dawn, she dies protecting Littlefoot and Cera from Sharptooth. She puts up a tremendous fight and casts him into the "big underground", the bottom of a Grand Canyon-like gorge that has just been torn open by a tremendous earthquake.
He is a Stegosaurus, which is referred to as a "Spiketail" in the films and TV series. Spike is raised by Ducky's family, since his family was lost at the time of his birth, and presumably deceased.

Littlefoot was reunited with Chomper as he has grown in The Land Before Time All Grown Up, when he was on his way to the Great Valley, after escaping from the rogue sharptooth.
It is the first Land Before Time movie to be set in modern day, combining live-action (humans & world) and traditional hand-drawn 2D animation (dinosaur characters). A teaser has not been released yet for TBA. The film is to be released in Fall of 2022.
During the production of the movie The Land Before Time, the character of Cera started out as a male Triceratops named "Bambo". As the character was in mid-animation, George Lucas made the suggestion to change him to a female named "Cera".
Piling on damage, just like any other zombie, will destroy a Zomboni, though this can be difficult, due to the Zomboni's immunity to freezing, higher speed and good health. A Chomper can devour the entire machine, and is one of the quickest recharging plants capable of defeating him.
