In his first appearance in King Kong (1933), Kong was a gigantic prehistoric ape. While gorilla-like in appearance, he had a vaguely humanoid look and at times walked upright in an anthropomorphic manner. Like most simians, Kong possesses semi-human intelligence and great physical strength.
If you were to scale up an animal by 10x in each dimension, it would have 100x the muscle power, but 1000x the mass, likely crushing this creature to death.
How much bigger is King Kong than a normal gorilla?
According to Wikipedia, a Western gorilla has a height of 1.55 meters with a mass of 157 kg (346 pounds). That means that Kong has a scale factor of 100/1.55 = 64.5.
For reference a silverback gorilla that can lift 810 kg scaled up to kong's size (104 feet /31.6 meters, 158 tons) would be able to lift ~5200 tons if it had the durability to survive.
In the movies, King Kong is reputed to be more than 100 meters (330 feet) tall and weigh some 158 tons. Godzilla is supposedly even bigger: a whopping 120 meters (390 feet) tall and 164 tons.

Could Kong ever beat Godzilla?
Indeed, nor could they ever. The Godzilla x Kong: The News Empire version of Godzilla is 177 metres long and weighs over 90,000 tonnes. Kong stands 103 metres tall and weighs over 50,000 tonnes. Land-living animals of this size simply aren't possible.
Meanwhile, the Kong we meet in 2017's Skull IslandOpens in a new tab is well over 104 feet tall. That went up to around 300 feet in Godzilla vs. Kong. Obviously, they did this to make him an even match with Godzilla, portrayed as significantly larger his 2014 film.

As for how the size increase works regarding the movie's story, Kong getting bigger is set up in Skull Island when it explains that King Kong wasn't fully grown yet. Kong was still an adolescent at the time of Skull Island.

Godzilla had to resort to drowning to gain the upper hand on Kong, finally using his home turf advantage. Strength is subjective in the kaiju world because the stats on these creatures are all over the place and most are not accurate. There is only one that constantly reigns supreme in physical strength. That is of course King Ghidorah the alien dragon from the deep cosmos.
