The movie version of Medusa is the only villain from the Percy Jackson series (not counting the Riordanverse books written after Percy Jackson) to be Pure Evil.
It becomes too late to escape, so the trio decide to fight Medusa. After a brief struggle, Percy defeats Medusa by severing her head with Riptide, his celestial bronze sword, using a polished bronze ball as a mirror. He then sends the head, left behind as a spoil of war, to Olympus via the Hermes Express.
The most common interpretation of Medusa suggests she is an apotropaic symbol used to protect from and ward off the negative, much like the modern evil eye. She represents a dangerous threat meant to deter other dangerous threats, an image of evil to repel evil.
Is Medusa evil or good? There are no stories that tell us of Medusa turning people to stone, nor any tales of her harassing or killing people (unlike other Greek monsters such as Scylla and Charybdis). Although she had the power to kill, she was not inherently evil.
It is in the Roman poet Ovid's Metamorphoses that her story is most deeply elaborated. She was lovely, according to the poem—until she was raped in Athena's temple by Poseidon. Athena then punished her for this violation, by turning her into the monstrous, stony-glanced creature that we know.

Does Medusa betray Percy?
Medusa turns against Percy and Annabeth by the end of Percy Jackson episode 3, but her story still highlights a major problem with the Olympian gods. In the Disney+ show's version of Medusa's tale, Athena punishes her for being with Poseidon — but she doesn't hold this against Percy's father at all.
Annabeth reveals that Medusa and Poseidon were former lovers (also mentioned in Percy Jackson's Greek Gods). Since Percy is Poseidon's son, Medusa does not want him to suffer. Yet, when Percy and his friends decide to fight her, she attacks him and gets killed in the process.
The fact that she disapproved of her daughter Annabeth's love for Percy was because of both his fatal flaw and (mostly) because he was the son of her rival, displays Athena as biased. Although, out of affection for Annabeth, she's given them her blessing, however reluctantly.
Still, Hera has history with at least one Hero of Olympus. Annabeth struck a nerve when she accused Hera of not being the most, let's say, loving towards her family. In retaliation, Hera cursed Annabeth to suffer the horrible fate of . . . cow poop.

The doors immediately tried to spill them out between life and death, and Annabeth threw her body against one side. "Jason, help me!" She cried, as he slammed his shoulder against the other side. Annabeth sobbed from pain in the sword wound in her side, and brokenness from who she just lost He was gone.
However, it's Medusa's resentment speaking during this scene. Annabeth doesn't betray Percy in Riordan's books, and she's even more hurt by Luke's betrayal than Percy. Percy and Annabeth eventually end up together, and they spend much of the series endlessly loyal to one another.
Hades became angered at Percy, when the hero seemed to suggest that he was a minor god, which Percy quickly denied and went on to say that he too should gain a cabin at Camp Half-Blood.
While this may seem like a betrayal at first, it was actually Grover playing the part of protector to a tee. Knowing that monsters will find Percy at Yancy, Grover realizes he has to get him away from the school as quickly as possible.
Upon returning to Camp Half Blood, Percy is betrayed by his friend Luke, son of Hermes, who turns out to be the human hero whom Kronos used for the theft. Luke poisons Percy, and tells him before leaving that Kronos will rise and destroy the age of the gods. Western Civilization is unraveling.
Percy defeats Medusa and sends her head to Olympus to show that he's not a pawn in the gods' game. Annabeth, Percy, and Grover take a train to Denver but stop at an Arch during a layover where Percy encounters the monsters Echidna and Chimera.

Percy's presence was revealed at the worst possible time, as Zeus's Master Bolt, his symbol of power, and Hades's helm of darkness had been stolen. The appearance of a Son of Poseidon made Hades and Zeus suspicious, as Gods can't go into each others' territory, but their children could.
Poseidon was about to blast whoever it was that dared to sit on his throne, but thankfully looked before doing so and didn't blast Percy. His son tried to convince him that the other gods needed his help in stopping Typhon, but Poseidon was unwilling as he would lose his own palace in Atlantis if he left.
