As revealed in Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers, a group of druids belonging to Halloween's Cult of Thorn placed a curse on Michael when he was an infant. This curse causes him to be possessed by Thorn, a demonic force that requires its host to sacrifice their family on Samhain (now known as Halloween night).
In the original Halloween movie (1978), Michael Myers was not a human character, but a physical manifestation of Evil. He was known as The Shape and did not have any character development so that he was only known as pure evil. Dr.

At six years old, he became a pawn, and with the first sacrifice of Judith, his soul got infected by the murderous being worshiped by the cult. As such, he might not be able to communicate like a human does.
It's then explained that in sixth movie exactly why Michael Myers keeps coming back from certain death. As shown in the Curse of Michael Myers, Michael is actually a victim of the Curse of Thorn. This mystical condemnation is applied by the Druid-like Cult of Thorn and dates back to centuries beforehand.
Myers is mentally resistant to all pain (physical and mental) but will suffer harm from pain just as any other living person would, he can just "power through" the injuries.
Farrands expanded the "Curse of Thorn" plot line, in which Jamie Lloyd is kidnapped by a covert cult who has cursed Michael Myers via the Runic symbol of Thorn, which compels him to kill and also affords him immortality.
Another weakness pointed out by viewers is Michael Myers' iconic mask, as every time he has been unmasked he stops killing, even though he had his victim in front and completely helpless.
Michael however is not without his fears as it indicated that he wears his mask to hide his face and emotions due to the fact Michael's face is seen to be normal looking and rather handsome, and since one of the sources of Michael's power is through the fear he inflicts on others, Michael could be afraid of losing that ...
Michael was played by many actors as: Tony Moran in the 1978 film, Brad Loree in 2002, Tyler Mane, who played Michael in the Rob Zombie's reboot, 2007 to 2009. Michael is a force of pure evil that cannot be stopped and possesses immortality due to his inhumanity.
In that same movie, a different reason for Michael's evil and killing sprees was given: Michael was afflicted with an ancient Druid curse that drove him to kill, especially those related to him, and the Cult of Thorn was also responsible for his supernatural “abilities”.

While Michael has proven time and again that he can survive nearly anything, he doesn't stand a chance against Jason. Jason's immense strength and ability to keep killing no matter the circumstances show that he can withstand a full-on assault from Michael.
At the beginning of the film, Michael is weak. As the film progresses, and he kills more people, he becomes stronger. If he can genuinely transcend after every kill, this would explain how he has survived after being jumped and attacked by various citizens of Haddonfield in the previous films.
It started in the original Halloween 2 when it's revealed that Michael (Dick Warlock) and Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) are brother and sister.
