Isildur was born in Númenor in the year SA 3209 of the Second Age. His younger brother Anárion was born in SA 3219. They lived at the haven of Rómenna on the east coast of the island of Númenor. Their father was Elendil and their grandfather was Amandil, the Lord of Andúnië.
"He was Aragorn son of Arathorn, the nine and thirtieth heir in the right line from Isildur, and yet more like Elendil than any before him." Aragorn was a descendant of Elros Tar-Minyatur.
The Dúnedain of Gondor were the descendants of the Exiles of Númenor who settled in the south of Middle-earth, and there founded Gondor. Middle Men had lived in the lands of Gondor before its official founding, and swore allegiance to its rule.
However, he does not possess the ability to live forever, and he cannot choose to be mortal or immortal like Arwen, the half-Elf he loves and eventually claims as his wife. Because Aragorn is mortal and Arwen chose to remain in Gondor and become mortal, their son, Eldarion, is mortal as well, despite his Elven lineage.
Sauron realising he could not defeat the Númenóreans militarily allowed himself to be captured, and begged falsely for mercy. The Númenóreans brought him back as a prisoner. Through Sauron's cunning and persuasion he rose from prisoner to adviser for the King.
History. Aragorn is a direct descendent of the Faithful Numenoreans from the line of Elendil. Because he is a Numenorean, he is related distantly to Elrond through Elros. Aragorn was born in the year TA 2931 to the Ranger Arathorn and his wife Gilraen.
The Downfall of Númenor, also called the Fall or Drowning of Númenor, was the utter destruction of the island of Númenor, a divine punishment by Eru Ilúvatar to the Númenóreans for breaking the Ban of the Valar.
If you are watching the show, you must have heard the name of Númenor, a kingdom of Men (uppercase because it signifies the race), and even visited it. Númenor does not exist by the time we meet Bilbo Baggins in 'The Hobbit'. The Fall of Númenor is one of the major events in the history of Arda.

Many far exceeded this height; Elendil himself bearing the nickname Elendil the Tall for being nearly eight feet high. One characteristic that set them apart from typical men was their longevity.
In another writing from circa 1965, Tolkien postulated that even Númenóreans who were not of the royal house lived around 350-420 years, though non royals managing to reach 400 was not a common event.
