To make the impact effective, the film needed to sacrifice its legacy character, who died in the line of duty facing Ghostface, which circles back to Dewey's role since 1996's Scream. Scream also showed that anyone could die to challenge the implications of the central characters being immortal to Ghostface.
Gale's fifth appearance is in Scream (2022). She and Dewey are revealed to have gotten a divorce following a move to New York City. Gale's successful career put a strain on their marriage causing Dewey to return to Woodsboro where he found solace in the mornings watching Gale cover the news.

We were shocked by the disturbingly demented content and graphic psychologically damaging descriptions that were depicted in first 20 minutes of this movie. Nothing like the prior Scream movies! My husband and I usually like horror movies, but I would advise any parents to keep kids under 18 from watching this .
