Many Tolkien scholars also identify the Witch-king as one of the three Black Númenóreans who Tolkien stated had become Nazgûl; in particularly, many theorize that Isilmo, a Númenórean prince and father of Tar-Minastir, could possibly be the man who became the Witch-king of Angmar.
The Witch-king's true name is never given, and therefore among Tolkien fans, the Witch-king is often simply called Angmar, after the name of the realm he founded and led.
He is a wizard, one of the Istari order, and the leader of the Fellowship of the Ring. Tolkien took the name "Gandalf" from the Old Norse "Catalogue of Dwarves" (Dvergatal) in the Völuspá.

Isildur features briefly in voiced-over flashback sequences of Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings film trilogy. The video game Middle-earth: Shadow of War departs from Tolkien's narrative by having Sauron make Isildur into a Nazgûl or ringwraith.
All the Nazgûl are named - The Witch-king of Angmar, The Dark Marshal, Khamûl The Easterling, The Betrayer, The Shadow Lord, The Undying, The Dwimmerlaik, The Tainted and The Knight of Umbar.
The Witch-King's Helmet was worn by the Lord of the Nazgûl, the Black Captain, Lord of Minas Morgul who is better known as the Witch-King of Angmar. He was possibly an ancient Númenorean Lord or King who slowly but surely fell to the will of Sauron after he received a Ring of Power by the Lord of Gifts; Annatar.
The Númenóreans made Umbar, the harbour city in the south of Middle-earth, into a great fortress and expanded Pelargir, a landing in Gondor near the Mouths of the Anduin. The "King's Men" among the Númenóreans became jealous of Elves for their immortality, resenting the Ban of the Valar, and sought everlasting life.
History. Aragorn is a direct descendent of the Faithful Numenoreans from the line of Elendil. Because he is a Numenorean, he is related distantly to Elrond through Elros. Aragorn was born in the year TA 2931 to the Ranger Arathorn and his wife Gilraen.
The Valar created a class of beings called the Maiar to shape the world. Technically, the the istari are Maiar, as is Sauron. The wizards' powers are more limited than Sauron's, but they are all magical.
Saruman the White, also known as Curumo, Curunír, Tarindor, Sharku, and "Sharkey." A Maia of Aulë. Originally the chief and greatest of the Istari order, as well as head of the White Council.
6 Gandalf. As previously stated, Gandalf is a Maia and is therefore superior to Elves regarding power. Still, this isn't to say that an elf couldn't develop enough skill and power to defeat a Maia. As a bearer of one of the Three Elven Rings (Nenya), Galadriel would have an edge against Maiar like Saruman and Radagast.
However, the director left out a key detail from his death at the hands of Éowyn. In J.R.R. Tolkien's novel, The Return of the King, the Shieldmaiden of Rohan was only able to kill the Witch-king because of a magic sword, which Merry used to stab the Ringwraith at a key moment.
Three of the Nazgûl were great Númenórean lords; in his notes for translators, Tolkien speculated that the Witch-king of Angmar, ruler of a northern kingdom with its capital at Carn Dûm, was of Númenórean origin. The nine, as Nazgûl, were soon established as Sauron's principal servants.
In The Lord of the Rings Online, a tapestry depicting Helm Hammerhand is found in the Mead Hall of Aldburg and can be acquired for use in player's houses. In Middle-earth: Shadow of War, Helm is shown to have become a Nazgûl.
As his "lifeforce" is imbude in the ring which prevents him from going into the Elven afterlife, and as such keeps him in the mortal plane. But he is a wraith in the first game, before his new ring is ever created. The ritual done to Tallion at the beginning of Shadow of Mordor summoned Celebrimbor into Tallion's body.
"He was Aragorn son of Arathorn, the nine and thirtieth heir in the right line from Isildur, and yet more like Elendil than any before him." Aragorn was a descendant of Elros Tar-Minyatur.
Elendil's son, Isildur, cut the Ring from Sauron's hand on the slopes of Mount Doom. Though counselled to destroy the Ring, he was swayed by its power and kept it "as weregild for my father, and my brother".
He later revealed himself as one of the Istari, and eventually became known as not only the wisest but also the most powerful of them. A legend tells that Gandalf had been given by Yavanna the Elfstone of Eärendil, to bring to the peoples of Middle-earth as a token that the Valar had not forsook them.
The Wizards or Istari in J. R. R. Tolkien's fiction were powerful angelic beings, Maiar, who took the form of Men to intervene in the affairs of Middle-earth in the Third Age, after catastrophically violent direct interventions by the Valar, and indeed by the one god Eru Ilúvatar, in the earlier ages.
