“Beetlejuice” revels in being unabashedly juvenile in almost every way, its humor mined from the same sophomore vein that made “The Book of Mormon” a monster hit. The movie carried a gentle PG rating; the f-bombs and sex jokes on stage would earn this a hard PG-13.
Perhaps the first thing most people think of when they hear “Banana Boat (Day-O)” is the iconic scene in the 1988 Halloween classic, Beetlejuice. In the scene, the two ghostly main characters haunt the family that has moved into their house, forcing them to dance along to this Belafonte hit.
A few are a bit bloody, one is clearly shown having slit wrists, however they are all harmless. All Violence is used for comedic effect. All of the violence also being cartoony and absurdist. A woman rips her face off, and her eyeballs hang from their sockets.
Although Beetlejuice as a whole isn't considered an overly scary film, there are some instances of graphic images that kids who are easily spooked may not handle well. A woman blowing cigarette smoke through her slit throat and bloody limbs shown in the afterlife waiting room are prime examples.
It is definitely NOT kid friendly. With all the bad language and reference to the use of cocaine and adult humor I felt very uncomfortable being there with my child. And all the liberal gay jokes were just uncalled for.
"Hell," and "damnit," can be heard a few times. Two uses of "fuck", one isn't clearly heard like the other, and two of "shit". "Goddamn" is said at the very beginning of the film.

There are parts that are a little spooky, with one moment making me visibly jump in my seat. However, if that is the only negative thing I can say about Beetlejuice the Musical, then the show itself must be amazing. I laughed so much I was crying and crying so hard at other times that I couldn't see out of my glasses.

Why Should You Say His Name Thrice? The rules dictate that someone has to repeat “Beetlejuice” thrice before he appears. Repeating his name acts like a contract to use his services when you summon him. Hence, 3 has been a significant number in the film.
Beetlejuice in the musical is a much more complicated, negative, and even evil character, but also has more of an arc with becoming more sympathetic. His abusive mother Juno and his loneliness at being born dead add a sadness that wasn't there in the movie.
