As the title of one late 18th-century novel — The Story of the Loyal, Filial, Brave, and Heroic Mulan — indicates, the other three virtues of Mulan — loyalty (忠 zhōng), bravery (勇 yǒng), and filial piety (孝 xiào) — have been recurrent themes in Chinese versions of the story.
The 12 moral values analyzed were: honesty, courage, peace of ability, self-confidence and potential, self-discipline and moderation, fidelity and chastity, loyalty and dependability, respect, love and affection, unselfishness and sensitivity, kindliness and friendliness, justice and mercy.
Every Chinese girl will still end up having a soft spot for Mulan thanks to its brilliant final touch: the emperor gifting Mulan a new sword, on which “Devotion to Family” (孝) is added alongside “Loyal, Brave, True”.
These virtues are introduced by Mulan's father, whose sword is engraved with the characters: “loyal, brave, true.” He taught Mulan the virtues of the warrior and that she can be brave and strong and that gender does not define all that she is.

A commander states that loyalty, bravery and truth are the three pillars of virtue in society. And later, because of Mulan's choices, the emperor declares that devotion to family is yet another essential virtue.
Mulan does what she thinks the right thing is, by refusing to get married, dressing up as man and going into battle on her father's behalf in order to save her country from invaders.
In the animated film, Mulan's greatest weakness is entirely physical: she simply does not have the capability to do things like carry two bags of who knows what on a hike which leads to Shang kicking her out of the army.
Before she takes her life she asks her younger sister, Youlan, which was to deliver Xianniang's letter to her fiancé. Her sister dresses as a man to make the delivery, but her disguise is discovered and she catches the fiancé's eye. Mulan's filial piety is emphasised as she reasons that her father ought to be at home enjoying his old age, and remarks that she is grateful for being taught martial arts, as it allows her to serve the two “perfect goals” of serving the country and fulfilling her filial duty.
Filial piety is the virtue of paying respect to your parents and ancestors through familial servitude, and this is yet another common thread throughout both movies. In fact, this is the central driving force behind the story, as Mulan only enlists in the army to save her father.
Mushu was once a guardian spirit of Mulan's family, but he has been demoted to the unappreciated position of an incense burner and gong-ringer for the deceased Fa ancestors ever since he failed to protect a family member, a soldier named Fa Deng, resulting in the soldier's demise by decapitation.
Superpowers. Mulan's powers come from the traditional Chinese belief of Qi, the energy that's responsible for a person's life force. In this film, Mulan has powerful Qi, which she uses to kick projectiles in midair and run on walls. It also gives her unnatural strength and speed.
In this conflict, Mulan showed her struggle to get the trust from the society that she can do anything. She proved that a woman was not weak as people think which women could be a tough and strong soldier not only for being a soldier but in every subject in the society.
The movie Mulan is one of the under looked Disney masterpieces and a great lesson for tragic irony. The audience knows that Mulan is a woman, while the rest of the other men in the military do not. When Prince Phillip meets Briar Rose, he wants to marry her but can't because his father won't let him marry a commoner.
Mulan has some nudity and sexual activity. For example: Mulan bathes in a pond but has to get out quickly when some soldiers decide to join her. She is hidden behind her horse but her bare legs can be seen and nudity is implied.
But because of the war and battle violence in this movie, it isn't suitable for children under 10 years. We also recommend parental guidance for children aged 10-13 years. Mulan (2020) has strong messages about the strength and bravery you need to break free from gender-based cultural norms and stereotypes.
