Ralph stabs the pig, and although it manages to escape, he is awash in the thrill of bloodlust. Suddenly, he is seized by a desire to hurt something. Now he knows what it must feel like to be Jack, the Beachside Strangler.
Ralph hides again, but Roger finds him, and Ralph stabs Roger, fleeing all the way down to the beach, where he looks up to see a naval officer standing on the beach.
Jack responds by telling Ralph to leave his end of the island, and Ralph reminds Jack that he was elected chief. Ralph then confronts Jack about stealing Piggy's glasses and calls him a thief. Jack feels offended by Ralph's comments and rushes toward him to stab Ralph with his spear.
At the end of Lord of the Flies, most of the boys survive. A littlun goes missing after the group builds a fire that gets out of control, and can be assumed to be dead. Simon gets killed by the group after they mistake him for the beast. Finally, Piggy dies when one of the boys in Jack's tribe throws a boulder on him.
Ralph and Piggy approach Jack's camp. Before arriving, Piggy says his last words: "Which is better, law and rescue, or hunting and breaking things up?"
Shouting that he is the beast, the boys descend upon Simon and start to tear him apart with their bare hands and teeth. Simon tries desperately to explain what has happened and to remind them of who he is, but he trips and plunges over the rocks onto the beach. The boys fall on him violently and kill him.
While Piggy admonishes the boys for becoming savages, Roger releases a huge boulder in Piggy's direction, knocking him off the cliff to his death on the rocks below.
From the beginning, Jack, who is the head choir boy back home, thinks he should be the chief, but the other boys choose Ralph. The tension between Ralph and Jack grows because Jack has different priorities—to hunt and have fun—than Ralph, who wants to hold onto civilization and get rescued.
What happens to Samneric in Lord of the Flies? Samneric are twins, formally Sam and Eric, stranded on an island in Lord of the Flies. They go back and forth in their allegiances between the two groups (good and evil) of boys, and towards the end they are tortured into joining the evil group.
Three of the boys on the island die before the choir is rescued. Simon is killed by accident because the other boys mistake him for a beast. Piggy is murdered by Roger. An unnamed boy with a mulberry-colored birthmark is killed in the forest fire that is set by Jack and his compatriots during their search for Ralph.
This chapter reveals the boys' responses to their actions of the night before, when they beat Simon to death in a tribal frenzy. Ralph is the only character who names the deed as murder and has a realistic, unvarnished view of his participation.
By the end of the story, Jack is so obsessed with power and his hate for Ralph that he would do anything to get rid of him, including hunting him like an animal and killing him. Jack burns down the jungle in an attempt to flush Ralph out, which, ironically, catches the attention of a passing ship and gets them rescued.
Why did Ralph cry at the end of ''Lord of the Flies''? Ralph cried because of the ''end of innocence'' and the ''darkness that lies in all men's hearts. '' He also wept for the loss of his friend, Piggy.
Ralph finds a place to sleep for the night. The next morning, his hiding place, a dense thicket, is betrayed by Samneric. The tribe is unsuccessful at reaching him in the thicket, so they flush him out by rolling boulders into it and setting it on fire.
At one point, Ralph calls on the knowledge passed on to him by Piggy and challenges Jack directly by asking him, "Why do you hate me?" He doesn't get an answer from Jack, but the reaction of the other boys is that "something indecent had been said." The boys recognize that Ralph is opening up the floodgates of ...
Once Jack and the hunters return with a dead pig, Ralph blames Jack for the fire going out. Jack becomes defensive and takes out his anger by punching, slapping, and mocking Piggy.
“Jack made a rush and stabbed at Ralph's chest with his spear. Ralph sensed the position of the weapon from the glimpse he caught of Jack's arm and put the thrust aside with his own butt. Then he brought the end round and caught Jack a stinger across the ear.
Ralph weeps for the innocence lost from the boys on the island, the deaths of Simon and Piggy, his own death which he didn't see a way to avoid, and also for the friendship of SamnEric, the twins, who make a conscious decision not to blow the whistle on Ralph's position even though they have seen him.
Piggy's real name is never revealed. Instead he is treated as though he is one of the pigs on the island - also like one of them, he is brutally killed. Piggy remains an outsider and a victim throughout the novel, though Ralph does come to respect him.
Roger, the character least able to understand the civilizing impulse, crushes the conch shell as he looses the boulder and kills Piggy, the character least able to understand the savage impulse.
Simon is killed by the other boys on the island in a frenzied attack, mistaking him for the "beast" they fear. After Simon's death, his body is washed out to sea, and the boys continue to descend into savagery and chaos.
Over the last 60 years, people have objected to the book due to its brutal violence, as well as its disturbing ideas concerning human nature and how humans differ little from animals when the boundaries of society are removed.
Simon's death presents irony in a few ways, most notably because he is coming down the mountain to prove to the other boys that the beast does not exist, then is mistaken for the beast and killed.
