The main reason of her rebellion was to show that they do not own her, or anyone. She should be allowed to make her own decisions, and not starve due to the “treason” that happened a long time ago. She realizes the country is not how it should be, and something must be done to fight it.
Katniss killed Marvel from District 1, but only after Marvel murdered Rue. Rue died in Katniss' arms, and the moment was the true catalyst for the beginning of the revolution. Not only did it facilitate the first instances of rebellion, but it continued to inspire people throughout the rest of the series.
Katniss Everdeen's fight against the Capitol is motivated by a multitude of factors. Her experiences in District 12, the injustice of the Hunger Games, her personal losses and her yearning for peace all contribute to her own personal rebellion and the wider revolution that spreads throughout all of Panem.
' Poaching, trading on the black market, mocking the Capitol in the woods"(130) are but few examples of Katniss rebellious actions even before setting foot in the arena .
Katniss performs the novel's greatest act of rebellion against the Capitol when she has the idea for her and Peeta to eat the poisonous berries. As Katniss explains, the Hunger Games are the Capitol's weapon against the districts, but they are also a popular form of entertainment.
Katniss Didn't Start the Rebellion Despite Being its Symbol
Katniss accidentally finds herself to be the face of the rebellion against the Capitol despite that never being her intention. She draws attention from all the Districts, as well as the Capitol when she volunteers to be a tribute in the Games.
What does Katniss realize about her role in the rebellion?
While Katniss is hurt by Haymitch, Plutarch, and the others' plan, she fully grasps the magnitude of her role in the rebellion. She understands that her only job was to be the mockingjay. She knows the importance of keeping her alive was only because she is the face of the rebellion.
Over the course of the novel, for example, she comes to learn that she's become a symbol of rebellion against the Capitol because she defied the Capitol's rules and threatened suicide with Peeta at the end of the Hunger Games.
When Rue dies, Katniss decorates her body with flowers as a means of memorializing Rue, but also to defy the Capitol. When Katniss later sees mockingjays, they remind her of Rue, and that memory inevitably stirs her hatred of the Capitol and her wish to rebel, and take revenge, against it.
They didn't tell Katniss or Peeta because once the force field went down the Capitol would go after them first, and they couldn't risk the Capitol finding anything out. Katniss doesn't know why they would go after her and Peeta first, and Plutarch tells her because the revolution lives as long as she does.
The conflict was orchestrated and presumably instigated by District 13. While the causes of the First Rebellion are never fully explained, it is understood that it was the culmination of years of oppressive rule at the hands of the Capital, resulting in the districts rising up in revolt.
The oppressive nature of this relationship would, over a period of time, sow the seeds of dissent and resentment inevitably amongst the populace against the ruling government. Eventually, the outlying districts grew tired of the oppressive regime of the Capitol and initiated a revolution.
Katniss has just learned that Peeta has romantic feelings for her, and initially she feels she is being used. She becomes angry with Peeta as a result, going so far as to shove him over an urn of flowers.
Hunting, however, is illegal and punishable by death. Katniss does it anyway, indicating a rebellious streak in her. Moreover, what she catches or collects that her family doesn't need to eat, she sells in the district's black market, again implying a disregard for rules.
Together, they write a book to preserve the memory of those who died. Though still suffering nightmares from the entire ordeal, they comfort each other. Twenty years later, Katniss and Peeta are married and have two children.
By killing Coin, Katniss ensured a chance for a peaceful and fair country, avenged her sister's death, and liberated Panem from the fascist government.
Katniss always surprised the Gamemakers in her private sessions. In the 74th Hunger Games, she shot an arrow directly at their table, skewering an apple in the mouth of a roasted pig that had been brought in for them, and then walked out without being dismissed.
Snow can't stand to see a young woman betray a young man's affection—his view of what happened 65 years ago. And so he takes out his old, festering wound on Katniss.
In the 74th Hunger Games, Clove was the only Career tribute who came close to killing Katniss twice — at the Bloodbath and at the Feast, and certainly seemed to have a deep hatred for her, perhaps because Katniss received a higher score than her.
He is "broad-shouldered and strong." Part of Peeta's left leg was amputated following the 74th Hunger Games, forcing him to walk with the aid of a prosthetic leg for the rest of his life. In the 2012 film adaptation, his leg is never amputated.
Katniss's next most significant relationship at the start of the series is her friendship with Gale Hawthorne. Gale is her best friend, and he loves Katniss very much. He wants her to run away with him but Katniss is too loyal to her mother and sister to ever leave.
Why is Katniss and Peeta's hand holding considered rebellious?
Because Haymitch understands that the Capitol's control is based on division—turning the districts and tributes against one another—he recognizes that handholding is a sign of rebellion. It shows that Katniss and Peeta are not yet participating in the Games, since they're still appearing in public as a team.
One of them mentions that they've had no seafood for weeks. Panem's seafood comes from District 4, and Katniss is certain the district must have revolted. Katniss asks what else they've been without and from that information discerns which areas may have rebelled.
