Corey saw Michale, he knew what happened to Michale. Corey's life flashed before his eyes and he snapped. He was Mikey as an opportunity to kill people who have wronged him and Allyson, meanwhile Mikey saw Corey as someone who has also been wronged, and killed to become rejuvenated.
Throughout Halloween Ends, there are a lot of references to eyes. When Michael looked into Corey's eyes, it was as though he saw everything he had been through. This understanding helps Michael develop a twisted kinship towards Corey, potentially seeing himself.

Did Michael transfer his evil to Corey?
The new movie did not outright confirm anything, but it seemed to show a weakened Michael transferring his evil into new serial killer Corey Cunningham, a troubled young man who the Shape spared, for some reason.
Corey stabs himself in the neck to frame Laurie for his death, which Allyson initially falls for. But, when Michael enters the Strode house, Corey appears to revive. It's short-lived, though, because the Shape swiftly snaps Corey's neck. After that, we don't see him again, so we can safely assume he's dead for good.
