A large amount of filming took place in New Zealand, predominantly in the Stone Street Studios. The complex comprises New Zealand's only purpose-built shooting stages, an extensive warehouse, a production office, and makeup amenities.
In Avatar 2, most of the action takes place in a different part of Pandora, with a special focus on the reef people clan of Metkayina, a society of Na'vi with a strong connection to Pandora's oceans.
Cameron also teased that the third film will will introduce a more antagonistic race of Na'vi. He also promised that all the remaining films will be shot in New Zealand and he plans to make films in the country “indefinitely,” revealing he will be come a New Zealand citizen in 2024.
With a city core diameter of over 9.6 kilometers (6 miles), Bridgehead City is a significantly larger RDA headquarters compared to the organization's previous base, Hell's Gate. Prior to the Battle of the Hallelujah Mountains, the RDA's operations were corporate-run with a security presence.
Perhaps the most famous of the real locations that inspired Pandora, the park is comprised of dense forest, deep ravines and canyons, caves, and strange pillar-like rock formations unique to China and formed by erosion.
One particular scene that we all remember from the Avatar is the magical Tree of Souls. You can find the real-life Wisteria Tree in Ashikaga Flower Park in Japan.
It is full of caves and pillar-like rock formations. Sound familiar? Zhangjiajie's pillar rocks actually inspired designers on the film; the only difference being that in they're floating in the films, while in Zhangjiajie they emerge from the ground.
The actors swam in performance capture wetsuits and goggles around fully submerged sets. The medium made actors' movements more fluid, allowing their characters' actions to appear far more realistic than they would have with the use of wire suspension systems.
"Avatar is a science fiction retelling of the history of North and South America in the early colonial period," director James Cameron stated in his legal declaration after he faced lawsuits alleging he stole the idea for "Avatar" from existing films and TV shows.
The fully grown avatar is much closer in appearance to the long-limbed Na'vi than to a human. Typical adult size ranges from nine to ten feet (2.75 to 3.0m) tall with blue skin, bioluminescent markings and large eyes with golden irises.

It is the first installment in the Avatar film series. It is set in the mid-22nd century, when humans are colonizing Pandora, a lush habitable moon of a gas giant in the Alpha Centauri star system, in order to mine the valuable mineral unobtanium, the room-temperature superconductor mineral.
Pandora, a potato-shaped moon, is coated in a fine (dust-sized) icy material. Even the craters on Pandora are coated in debris, a stark contrast to the crisply-defined craters of other moons, such as Hyperion. Curious grooves and ridges also appear to cross the surface of the small moon.
And although Avatar was an American production, its creators forged a distinctly Asian world, with influences from monastic Tibet, Thai kingdoms, and Japanese villages, as well as Arctic indigenous communities. This unique approach was not lost on the TV writer Albert Kim when he watched the series with his daughter.

The Na'vi are a fictional indigenous species that live on the fictional world of Pandora in the movie Avatar. They look like humans. They have two eyes, ears, arms, and legs. They also have a nose, a mouth, and expressions that are similar to humans.
In the 2009 science-fiction film Avatar, director James Cameron conceived a fictional universe in which humans seek to mine unobtanium on the fictional habitable moon Pandora.
Pandora's air is unbreathable due to high levels of carbon dioxide and trace amounts of hydrogen sulfide, posing a threat to humans. Humans use exopacks and avatar bodies to survive and explore Pandora's toxic atmosphere, but these solutions have limitations and challenges.
Republic City is a large metropolis located in the lower areas of a mountainous region, with large bodies of water in the immediate vicinity. It was founded as the capital of the United Republic of Nations, a fifth nation created by Fire Lord Zuko and Avatar Aang after the end of the Hundred Year War.
