In her second games (the 75th Hunger Games, aka the third Quarter Quell), she killed Cashmere by burying one of her axes into her chest. She assaulted Katniss, cutting open her arm to remove the tracker and keep her put, but never meant to kill her.
At this point, Johanna knocked Katniss over the head with the heavy metal cylinder, then cut the tracker out of Katniss's arm so the Capitol would be unable to find her. Johanna also smeared blood across Katniss's face to make Enobaria and Brutus believe she was already dying. Johanna then led the Careers away.
The two Careers leave her alone, though, saying she is as good as dead. As she drifts in and out of consciousness, Katniss realizes the alliance is over and that Johanna purposefully knocked her out and cut her arm.
Johanna remains in the Capitol for quite a while, and she and Peeta are tortured for information concerning District 13 and the mockingjay rebellion. While in the Capitol, Johanna's entire head is shaved, making her bald. Johanna after she is rescued from the Capitol.
In the case of Johanna, they each hated each other because that was what the Capitol had taught them to do. They were from competing Districts, and the idea of the Games was to keep the lesser citizens of Panem distrustful of one another and unwilling to form alliances (or raise arms in war).

Does Johanna have a crush on Peeta?
Ever since their first meeting in the elevator, Johanna Mason has had her eye on Peeta. Even though she came off as cold and distant, she was never afraid to show her admiration for Peeta. In that same scene in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Johanna asked Peeta how he felt now that everyone wanted to sleep with him.
Even though the two were now allies, they still didn't trust each other. During the escape from the arena at the end of these Hunger Games, Johanna 'attacked' Katniss for the purpose of removing a tracking device from her arm, then lead Brutus and Enobaria, the District 2 tributes, away from Katniss.
Johanna Mason developed an addiction to morphling while hospitalized in District 13 for the torture she endured in the Capitol. When she was weaned off, she instead dipped into Katniss's supply.
Johanna asks what happened to Mags, and when Katniss tells her she says Mags was Finnick's mentor and half his family. She also explains that she saved Wiress and Beetee because Haymitch told her that if she and Katniss were going to be allies she had to save them for Katniss.
The female Morphling, however, appears almost coincidentally, and Peeta even mentions that they don't know her real name. Given that she is willing to make the ultimate sacrifice to protect Peeta, it's safe to assume that the Morphling was committed to the rebel cause.
Unable to find Peeta and hearing a cannon, Katniss nearly attacks Finnick, suspecting his betrayal, but he reminds her to "remember who the real enemy is." Katniss attaches the wire to an arrow, firing it into the arena's roof just as lightning strikes.
Peeta used the dyes to paint a picture of Rue after Katniss covered her with flowers when she died. He says he wants to hold them accountable for killing Rue, and Effie tells him that that kind of thinking is forbidden. Katniss then tells the team she hung a dummy of Seneca Crane.
Toward the end of the novel, Katniss realizes that Haymitch has been keeping information from her and using her to help the rebellion, causing her to feel extremely betrayed. On the other hand, his goals are generally good ones.
He has betrayed her and is betraying all of District 12 by buddying up with the Careers, whom she calls the "Capitol's lapdogs." She decides that if the Careers don't kill him, she'd be more than happy to. Then, she wonders why Peeta hasn't told them about her bow and arrow skills yet.
The following year after Lucy Gray Baird's victory, another female tribute emerged as the Hunger Games winner. Mags Flanagan became the first victor from District 4, living off of nuts and her survival skills by creating fishhooks. She was also the first victor to move to Victor's Village before serving as a mentor.
Both Morphlings die during the Hunger Games in Catching Fire, after the female tribute from District 6 protects Peeta from the monkey mutations that attack the tribute. She dies in Peeta's arms while looking at the sunset.
Katniss is rendered deaf in one ear after she blows up the Careers' supplies, and she doesn't regain any hearing on her left side until afterwards when the Capitol gives her a hearing aid.
Due to the horror of his Games, his grief over his family's and girlfriend's deaths, and the overwhelming guilt he felt from being obligated to participate in the Games he hated while each and every one of his mentored tributes died in them, Haymitch turned to alcoholism to cope with his issues and feelings.
Her death was presumably excruciatingly painful, as per Snow's other executions. It is possible that Snow had her killed to intimidate Peeta, who was in Capitol custody. By scaring Peeta and showing him visibly shaken on national television, it would scare Katniss and the rebels.
During the supposed execution of Snow, she instead shoots Coin, due to her being responsible for Prim's death. She then attempts to kill herself with the suicide pill attached to her uniform, but Peeta stops her.
Peeta, Johanna, and possibly Annie were held in adjacent cells. As part of their torture, they were forced to listen to each other's screams. Johanna was starved, beaten, had her head shaven, and she was soaked with water and tortured with electric shocks. This caused her to develop a fear of water.
Katniss, drugged and recovering in District 13, dreams of Peeta. She wakes to find Johanna Mason stealing Katniss's morphling drip. Katniss had been spared serious injury thanks to Cinna's armored Mockingjay costume.
Why did Johanna cut the tracker out of Katniss's arm?
Hence, she “attacks” her in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire to remove the tracker in Katniss' arm by cutting it out with a knife. This was to lead Brutus and Enobaria (tributes from District 2) away from her, and so that the Capitol couldn't track her whereabouts.
Annie Cresta is one of the victors of District 4. She won The 70th Hunger Games at age 18. She also got married by her mentor, Finnick Odair. She suffered from PTSD after her Games, after seeing her district partner being beheaded by a Career during the Games she was in.
