Though her family is now very wealthy and has plenty of food to eat due to her having won the Hunger Games, Katniss still illegally hunts every day in the woods outside of District 12 because she needs to provide food for Gale's family.
In Mockingjay, Katniss defied Gale's wishes when he was captured because she didn't want to see him dead. It seems like a nice thing for her to do, especially since Gale is soon able to escape out of the Peacekeepers' grasp because of the rebellion's "distraction".

Commander Paylor, a vital leader in the Second Rebellion from District 8 was elected as Panem's new president. Paylor abolished the Hunger Games, destroyed the arenas, and set up memorials for the victims of the recent tragic events.
But Katniss's primary intent wasn't to stage an act of rebellion, though she does recognize that there was some spirit of defiance in the gesture. Mostly she wanted to save Peeta and herself and she knew the Capitol wouldn't let both of them die.

She believes that the Gamemakers will punish her for what she's done, that they'll make her an Avox and cut out her tongue.
