Thor entered the pool and lightning engulfed him as he revisited his nightmare. He saw visions of the destruction of Asgard, of the Infinity Stones, and the birth of Vision.
Although he claimed to be strong enough to not be affected by Wanda's powers, Thor was still subjected to her hallucinations, where he saw the destruction of Asgard and very quick glimpses at the Infinity Stones, the Infinity Gauntlet, and the creation of Vision.
Thor had two visions in Age of Ultron – one courtesy of Scarlet Witch, the other from immersion in the magical 'Water of Sights'. In the first, Thor sees himself at a party on Asgard, where Heimdall declares him to be a "destroyer" before lighting strikes from the thunder god's body, obliterating various Asgardians.
Thor had a vision of Ragnarok with his friends dead. That sent him on a quest that ultimately brought about Ragnarok. He also had a vision of the Infinity Stones being collected into a hand of fire representing the Infinity Gauntlet.

Was Thor afraid of Thanos?
However, there are plenty of things that do scare him, ranging from the loss of Odin, Loki, and Frigga to confronting Thanos. It's fascinating to see the aspects that make the God of Thunder relatable and human.
He sacrificed his eye in Mimir's well and he threw himself on his spear Gungnir in a kind of symbolic, ritual suicide. He then hanged himself in Yggdrasil, the tree of life, for nine days and nine nights in order to gain knowledge of other worlds and be able to understand the runes.
But, in one Thor tale, the government didn't see eye-to-eye with the God of Thunder, which resulted in a war that led to an evil Thor rising and ruling the planet.
Marvel reveals Thor's father Odin was far from the loving caring paternal figure of the present - and in fact was an outright villain for many centuries before the current comics continuity.
In Age of Ultron, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) watches as many of his fellow Asgardians die. Heimdall (Idris Elba) tells Thor during the vision that “we are all dead” and that the God of Thunder “is a destroyer” who will “lead his people to hell.”
What happens in the dream: Thor is also haunted by what could be the end of his world—but in this case “his world” is not Earth but Asgard, which he sees reveling as it decays. Heimdall (Idris Elba), his eyes white, seizes him around the neck and suggests that the end is upon them.
What is Ragnarok? We go into this in much greater detail here, but suffice to say, Ragnarok is the end of days in Norse mythology. Thor's vision in Age of Ultron shows Heimdall blinded and insane, implying some kind of cataclysmic event to come.

While Zeus is by no means a pushover, unless he has some immensely powerful tricks up his sleeve in Thor: Love and Thunder, it appears that the MCU's Odin is still the strongest god on the cosmic block.
The well was guarded by Mimir, a shadowy being who becomes all knowing by drinking the magical waters. Odin asked for a drink and Mimir replied that Odin must sacrifice an eye for a drink. Odin gouged out his own eye, dropped it into the well, and was allowed to drink from the waters of cosmic knowledge.
However, it is possible that during his time traveling with the Guardians of the Galaxy he either found a magical way to repair his eye, or (more likely) Rocket stole another eye for Thor that matched his true eye color.
