Harry Potter and the Cursed Child finds Harry nineteen years older than when we left him at the end of the Deathly Hallows–married to Ginny Weasley, with a job at the Ministry, and three children of his own. One thing that hasn't changed, is his undying friendship with Ron and Hermione.
Harry works as the Head of Magical Law Enforcement at the Ministry of Magic, while Ginny is the editor of the sports section of The Daily Prophet. Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger also send their daughter Rose on the train.
According to Rowling, after Voldemort's defeat, Harry joins the "reshuffled" Auror Department under Kingsley Shacklebolt's mentoring, and ends up eventually rising to become Head of said department in 2007.
Sept. 1, 2017 marks the official “19 Years Later” date from the epilogue of our beloved Harry Potter series. After 19 years, Harry fulfilled his dream of becoming an Auror and eventually rose to the top of the department before heading up the Department of Magical Law Enforcement.
He becomes an Auror and forgoes returning to Hogwarts for his NEWTs. However, he leaves the Auror force after two years and works at Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes with his brother, George. This decision is influenced by the turmoil he experienced during the Second Wizarding War. Even so, Ron remains an important figure.

What does Harry do as an adult?
Thanks to Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, fans finally found out Harry's career choice. Harry not only becomes a worker at the Ministry of Magic - he becomes the Head of Magical Law Enforcement. He works with Hermione, who is the Minister of Magic, and eventually Ron, who becomes an Auror.
The love protection spell lifted when Harry turned seventeen in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, which is why he had to be hurried away from the Dursleys' house in the dead of night.

So why did Harry choose Ginny over Hermione? Because Harry and Hermione were never a thing. And because Harry developed feelings for Ginny. He didn't “choose Ginny over Hermione,” because he was never interested in Hermione.
Rowling elaborated on Ginny's future after the release of the book, saying that after leaving Hogwarts, she joined the Holyhead Harpies and, after spending a few years as a celebrated player, retired to become the senior Quidditch correspondent at the Daily Prophet, and to start a family with Harry.
After the conclusion of the Second Wizarding War, Hermione sought out her parents and returned their memories. They presumably then returned to England.
Rowling revealed more information about Neville when she stated that he married Hannah Abbott, a Hufflepuff classmate, who became the landlady of the Leaky Cauldron. The couple live over the pub, a fact that Rowling thought people would find "particularly cool".
Draco and his wife, Astoria Greengrass, decided early on that they would raise their son without pure-blood beliefs. In Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Scorpius Malfoy (Draco's son) was taught to treat Muggles and half-bloods with the same respect that he would treat any wizard or witch.
If this prologue had taken place less than 19 years after the battle, it would be implied that Rowling's protagonists had children in their early years of adulthood, which likely isn't the story she wanted. It's easy to focus on the Golden Trio in this scene, but the final takeaway lies with their children.
Harry Potter had a few love interests during his time at Hogwarts. Though he eventually settled down with Ginny Weasley, he also had a thing for Cho Chang in his earlier school years. Then, of course, there's his secret love for Draco Malfoy… Wait, what?
In the books, Pansy Parkinson has a schoolgirl crush on Draco, and they went together to the Yule Ball. However, there was no true love between them. In the Cursed Child, Draco Malfoy's wife is Astoria Greengrass. Later, after Astoria's death, Draco says that he would “sell [his] soul for another minute with Astoria.”
Luna married fellow naturalist Rolf Scamander, grandson of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them author Newt Scamander, considerably later in life than Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Ginny, who all married and started families in their early-to-mid twenties.
In the years to come, Harry's scar hurt whenever Voldemort was close, or whenever he was in danger from the Dark Lord or his followers, the Death Eaters, such as when one set off the Dark Mark near him in 1994.
Epilogue. Nineteen years after Voldemort's defeat, Hagrid is still at Hogwarts and invites Harry and Ginny Weasley's second son Albus Severus Potter to his hut for tea, just as he had once done for Harry himself, implying that he and Harry are still close.
This turned out to be half-true – Hermione did end up in a job in Magical Law... but didn't do things by halves, taking the top job itself: Minister for Magic. "... have mercy..." Lily Potter's death practically set in motion the wheels for the entire series. She died at her home in Godric's Hollow trying to protect infant Harry, whom Voldemort was hell-bent on murdering. Lily's last words were an ardent request to the Dark Lord to let her little boy live.
Notably, Voldemort appeared to be entirely unaware of this split, as he later created a seventh Horcrux in his quest to have six, and continued to target Harry Potter despite him now holding part of Voldemort's own soul.
However, becoming immortal from gathering the three is a misconception, as being a true Master of Death is realising and accepting the fact that everyone will die and there are worse things than death. Harry Potter collected the three Hallows and was willing to accept death and so became the Master of Death.
