At first, Katniss believes that Haymitch hates her and even withholds gifts from her in the arena so that she'll die. Soon, though, she realizes that Haymitch is communicating with her through his gifts (or lack of them) and that she and Haymitch are more alike than she'd like to let on.
Toward the end of the novel, Katniss realizes that Haymitch has been keeping information from her and using her to help the rebellion, causing her to feel extremely betrayed. On the other hand, his goals are generally good ones.
Katniss realizes that she kind of hates Haymitch because he's apparently not very good at supporting his tributes – or getting them sponsors (the people who give aid and supplies to the tributes during the game). Katniss asks Haymitch for advice, and he says "stay alive" (4.40) and then laughs.
Though Haymitch aggravates Katniss at times, she realizes he is a trustworthy confidant to her and Peeta, especially as she works to protect all of their loved ones. Katniss knows that he is incredibly smart; she values his skills as a mentor.
Haymitch uses alcohol to cope with his time in the Games, and since Katniss can no longer hunt or escape to the woods, she uses the only way she can think of to deal with the tragedy of it all. Her final request to Haymitch is to protect Peeta and hope that the Capitol will spare him after the Games.

Why did Katniss detest Haymitch?
Katniss realizes she detests Haymitch, believing that he's part of the reason District 12 tributes never stand a chance. Haymitch is unlikely to draw sponsors on their behalf, since the rich people who sponsor tributes expect to have someone classier than Haymitch to deal with.
Haymitch is already drinking, and Peeta gets angry with him because he's supposed to be advising them. He slaps the drink out of Haymitch's hand. Haymitch punches him, and Katniss stabs her knife into the table between his hand and the liquor bottle.
Their relationship was all friends. They trusted each other, but that doesn't mean they had romantic feelings for each other. Plus, Cinna's too old for Katniss.
Katniss made the choice to build her future with Peeta. If she didn't love him, she wouldn't have made that choice. Katniss made her whole world about getting the people she cared about to the next day, her choice to survive with Peeta proves her love for him.
She is angry she wasn't informed of the plan and lashes out at him. Despite the fact that Haymitch has been working since the very beginning to save her, she cannot forgive him for letting the Capitol take Peeta alive.

As the lone District 12 mentor for Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, it was revealed that Haymitch won the annual Hunger Games event when he was just 16 years old.
Due to the horror of his Games, his grief over his family's and girlfriend's deaths, and the overwhelming guilt he felt from being obligated to participate in the Games he hated while each and every one of his mentored tributes died in them, Haymitch turned to alcoholism to cope with his issues and feelings.
He definitely does. We see in the first book that he sees a lot of himself in Katniss which is why they clash a lot. Katniss is able to read between the lines when Haymitch either does or doesn't send her something in the arena, and Peeta tells her that she's his favourite.
However, Peeta desperately wanted children, and approximately fifteen years after the end of the Second Rebellion, Katniss eventually agreed and she got pregnant legitimately.

Chia Mags kisses Finnick on the mouth to briefly let him know that this is the last time she will see him. It's her way of saying "Goodbye" but in a more affectionate way.
As Katniss gets to know Finnick during the Quarter Quell, she sees he is in fact loyal, dutiful, and caring. For example, despite Mags being a burden on his chances of survival, Finnick does everything he can to keep the eighty-year-old alive because, as we learn, she was his mentor and he genuinely cares about her.
He drank the poison in order to allay suspicions, then took the antidote, but resulted in bloody sores in his mouth. He also smells strongly of genetically enhanced roses, as he always wears a white rose in his lapel to cover the scent of blood. The strong smell invariably makes Katniss gag.
Katniss understands and asks if Peeta's been told about this, but Haymitch says he doesn't need to tell Peeta because "He's already there." As Katniss readies herself to take the stage, she realizes that, although she has made it out of the arena, the most dangerous part of the Hunger Games has begun.
