Now that may seem a bit wishy-washy to those who want a definite yes or no. I wish I could find the answer in the Bible–you know II Hezekiah 3:16, the one that reads, “Thou shalt not watch a movie or listen to a song or play a video game that misuses my Name as if it were a swear word.” But it's simply not there.
While watching "bad things" is indeed sinful, it is important to recognize that God's grace is not limited by our mistakes. God's forgiveness is readily available to all who humbly repent and genuinely seek His mercy. God wants you to repent, so that He can forgive you.

What the Bible does make clear is that any language used to belittle, demean, or attack someone is a sin. But what about cussing when we stub our toe or using a strong word to better express what we are feeling? The Bible doesn't give us a direct answer. God doesn't really seem to care about the words we use.

While there is no chapter and verse in Scripture saying horror movies are sinful for Christians to watch; it would be incredibly unwise and even dangerous for believers to partake in films that make light of the demonic and make it look entertaining.

Finally, profanity itself is wrong, even though such words may not specifically involve the name of God. God gave mankind the gift of language which should be used positively. Language should build good relationships with other individuals, and enable people to share their lives intimately with each other.
Celebrity today is often about fame and seeking publicity. Jesus did not seek publicity; rather the opposite. He 'swore them to secrecy. “Don't tell a soul what you saw”' (Mark 9:9, MSG).
Now if you recognize that you shouldn't participate in whatever brutal actions are documented in the Bible, you should have no trouble applying that concept to the medium of film. Many of the most moving and impactful films in the history of cinema include terrible violence, cruelty, abuse, etc.
Proverbs 22:1 says, “A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, and favor” — favor with other people — “is better than silver or gold.” So, no one should desire to be known as a fool or a thief or a braggart or a glutton or a loafer or lustful.
