After Galadriel, the Lady of Lórien, departs for Valinor, it's said her husband, Celeborn, settles in Rivendell for a time. Eventually, Rivendell ends up abandoned. Before Aragorn dies, he tells Arwen, his wife and Elrond's daughter, that “none now walk” in the garden of Elrond, meaning no one remains in Rivendell.
Though its people were diminished, Rivendell was maintained, for a while, by Elladan and Elrohir. They were later joined by Celeborn, who left East Lórien within a few years of Galadriel's departure with Elrond's party. It is not known when Rivendell was finally abandoned, but shortly before he died in F.A.
Galadriel left for Valinor at the beginning of the Fourth Age, and Celeborn later followed her. The city slowly became depopulated and Lothlórien faded. By the time of the death of Queen Arwen, Celeborn and Galadriel's granddaughter, Lothlórien itself was deserted.
If they do not die in battle or accident, Elves eventually grow weary of Middle-earth and desire to go to Valinor; they often sail from the Grey Havens, where Círdan the Shipwright dwells with his folk.

The fact that she was an elf means that there is no way that she could be dying for no reason normally. Elrond is telling Aragorn that because she has chosen him, she is now slowly dying the death of any mortal, as they live and grow older.
Thus, Galadriel's dark form in Jackson's The Lord of the Rings personified what would have occurred had the Lady of Lothlorien given in to temptation and taken the One Ring for herself. She would have succumbed to evil because the Ring was indomitable, even with her power.
Galadriel is supposed to be banned from return because she associate with the kin-slaying in Alqualondë or at least continued on from Aman and then was banned from return.
All those Elves who never reached Valinor are "Dark Elves." In the First Age, the Sindar viewed the term "Moriquendi" as offensive, so the Noldorin Exiles gave the name Úmanyar ("Those not of Aman") to those who started the journey but did not finish it.

Death and mourning are the price of this, They are now her burden to bear, and she chooses to bear it in solitude, surrounded by the echoes of her people, and to be buried in the place where her heart still remembers the light of her elven days.
Elrond has only Half-Elf, and he was once given the choice to be counted among Man or Elves. When he chose to be counted as Elven kind, he was then given immortality. Because Arwen is Elrond's daughter and also Half-Elf, she too has the choice to be a mortal woman or an immortal Elf.
In the year 121 of the Fourth Age, after Aragorn's death, Arwen died of a broken heart at Cerin Amroth in Lórien, and was buried there one year after the death of Aragorn, to whom she had been wedded for 122 years. She was 2901 years old.
