The Three Fairies cheer with excitement as Prince Phillip proposes to Aurora. Later, they and all the residents of the Moors are invited to the wedding. They get trapped in the chapel and are attacked with red metal dust released by Lady Gerda that strips the creatures of their magic and sentience.
Mistress of Evil also fully breaks with tradition to kill off one of the characters crucial to 1958 animated classic Sleeping Beauty. The Blue Fairy Godmother, who was, admittedly, tweaked for Maleficent, gives her life to save magical creatures, including her fellow fairy godmothers.
