The Decepticons are a faction of Cybertronians who formed on Cybertron, They fight to destroy the heroic faction The Autobots. The Decepticons were founded by The Fallen (Megatronus), who were founded again by Megatron some time later, and he would start the Cybertronian War.
The Decepticons arose out of the underground fights that Megatron once partook in. After discovering certain secrets about Cybertron's origin, including massive planetary engines, Megatron began using the games to recruit combatants.
The Decepticons are a group of Cybertronians whose original goal was to get rid of the infamous Caste System on Cybertron and return to the empire-building, space-faring ways of their ancestors.
Since discovering Earth, Megatron and the Decepticons have concentrated all their efforts on usurping the planet's resources and destroying humanity. Megatron can take on multiple Autobots at the same time, as well as fighting Predaking, one of the most powerful transformers of the time. Megatron rightfully claims the title of the strongest Decepticon.
In almost every version of the mythos, Optimus is the leader of the Autobots, a faction of Transformers who are rivals of another faction, the Decepticons. He is defined by his strong moral character and is almost always portrayed as the primary hero of the story, opposing the Decepticon leader Megatron.
Upon being sent to Earth by Optimus Prime, Bumblebee is hunted by Decepticon Blitzwing, and he refuses to give up the location of his comrades. As a result, Blitzwing destroys Bumblebee's voice synthesizer, damaging it beyond repair, which prompts him to learn to use clips of audio to communicate.

Background. Once at peace with the, the Decepticons sought conquest of power. Lead by the evil Megatron, they are natural enemies with the Autobots which a group lead by Optimus Prime. Having crashed on Earth, the Decepticons followed the Autobots to destroy their kind in order to achieve conquest.
Stunticons - A group of Decepticons who are made up of Cybertronians who can assume car form and one who can assume a truck form. They are often shown combining into Menasor. Combaticons - A group of Decepticons who have military vehicle forms. They are often shown combining into Bruticus.
The name of "Decepticon" came from pre-war propaganda by the Cybertron Council labeled that them as liars and thieves. They took the name as a badge of honor instead. In their minds and Megatron's words, "if speaking the truth [was] deception, then [they were] gladly guilty".
His instability is also what leads the other Decepticons to awaken Starscream to stand up to him in Devastation. Eventually, after witnessing Bumblebee's willingness to sacrifice himself in order to stop the machinations of Shockwave, Megatron does the unthinkable and joins the Autobot cause.
During his time with the Autobots, he formed a surprisingly close friendship with the human Alexis. However, Thrust eventually manipulated Starscream into rejoining the Decepticons, though Starscream still vowed to destroy Megatron.
Enraged by his brush with death, Megatron became disillusioned with his former pacifist ideals. Now, he was convinced that only power and force could achieve change.
He hates humans, considering them nothing but disgusting organic pests. He hates the Techno Organics, considering them half breed abominations, not worthy of life. As far as he's concerned, only the Decepticons deserve to survive, and he is the only true leader for the Decepticon army.
