As we previously mentioned, the characters are expertly polished by the writers and treated with such care, but it's the impeccable performances from the amazing cast that help elevate these characters and serve to why we love them so much, faults and all. The supes in the show all feel familiar, but also so fresh.

Is the boys appropriate for 13 year olds?
Obviously not for kids.
The entire point of the show is to mock superhero media. It's a satire. And obviously kids shouldn't be watching it. The body count's high and the gore is extreme, with heads being blown up, jaws and faces being ripped off, and lots of blood, it's gruesome.
The R-rating doesn't ban children under 17 from a movie, it restricts them to watching it with a parent or guardian (and includes a recommendation that parents and guardians learn more before allowing their child to see the movie).

These dreams are suddenly dashed, however, when Starlight is sexually assaulted by the Deep, who extorts her into performing oral sex on him at Seven Tower during "The Name of the Game".
I'd recommend doing a deeper dive to decide if it's ok for your kids, but I'd advise to watch it with them and even then don't shown it to anyone under the age of 14-16.
Of course, the movies and shows from Marvel are destined to other public's category, but this show is tough. It has all you could not expect from a TV series with superheroes. It has violence, gore, nudity, astonishing CGI effects and a very unpredictable and solid storyline.
The opening three minutes of Season 2 shows Black Noir brutally killing terrorists (interspliced with some scenes at the Vought HQ), but the most graphic is when Black Noir rips a guy's face in half via the mouth (reminiscent of a similar kill in the horror comedy, "Hatchet").
