The War Machine suit is a modified version of the Iron Man Mark II design stolen by James Rhodes. He takes the armor to one of the U.S bases where it is modified by Justin Hammer with several of his weapons most recognized is the large gun on his shoulder.
The Mark III War Machine Armor was the third armor given to James Rhodes. It was created sometime after the Battle of Sokovia, as a replacement to the Mark II.
Originally a modified version of Iron Man's Mark II armor, and now having since gone through several incarnations, the War Machine and Iron Patriot suits boast a combination of technology built by Tony Stark, as well as weapons from other manufacturers, all coming together to make him a one-man weapons depot.
The Mark IV War Machine Armor was the fourth armor given to James Rhodes. It was created sometime after the Avengers Civil War, as a replacement to the Mark III, which was damaged by Vision during the Clash of the Avengers. It was notably used during the Infinity War.
Iron Man's suit can deflect, absorb, and rechannel most energies. It can also withstand most weapons' grade damage and blunt force just short of Thor or The Hulk. War Machine can absorb massive amounts of physical damage but isn't very handy at different types of energy shielding.

During the attack on the Facility, James Rhodes was trapped underground with the damaged Mark VI armor. Scott Lang found the Mark V armor and gave it to Rhodes, which Rhodes used during the Battle of Earth.
After Rogers and Barnes escape on a Quinjet, Rhodes is accidentally hit by Vision whose blast incapacitates his suit, causing him to fall. Stark and Wilson are unable to catch him and he lands on the ground, fracturing his spinal column and leaving him paralyzed from the waist down.

In an iconic moment in 2008's Iron Man, Stark destroys a Ten Rings tank with one such missile. The missiles are powerful enough to blow back the corpse of a Chitauri Leviathan (as shown in The Avengers) and instantly destroy one of Ultron's pre-Vibranium primary bodies.
In Infinity War, Tony's nanosuit was numbered Mark 50, but according to various action figure and statue descriptions, this Endgame suit is Mark LXXXV, which is Mark 85!

This meant that he would require an endless supply of Vibranium to keep up this cycle, which wasn't sustainable considering the Vibranium's rarity and it still belonging to Wakanda.
