The Armitage Family are the main antagonists of the 2017 horror/thriller film Get Out. They are members of an evil cult organization called the Order of the Coagula, who entrap, sell, and transfer the consciousness of prospective buyers into younger African Americans.
It is also revealed that Chris' body was going to be used by the blind artist seller he had met at the party, Jim Hudson as he bought Chris so he could use his perfect eyesight.
But Get Out isn't about the blatantly, obviously scary kind of racism — burning crosses and lynchings and snarling hate. Instead, it's interested in showing how racist behavior that tries to be aggressively unscary is just as horrifying, and in making us feel that horror, in a visceral, bodily way.
Rose and her family reveal their true nature, and the Armitage family are revealed to be the leading members of a secret cult known as the Order of the Coagula (founded by Rose's grandfather Roman) whose main objective is achieving immortality through transferring their brains into African American bodies.
The scene that this stands out is the when Chris tries to photograph Logan, the only other black person at the party. When the flash goes off in Logan's face his demeanor changes. Physical symptoms manifest which include a nose bleed, fear in his eyes and lunging at Chris saying "Get out".

Why did Logan smile at the end?
This was not a fan “mistake”; it was a view Cox himself shared in an interview with Vulture: “Logan knew in order to sacrifice himself, he would have to do it through his family. He figured that the one chance he had was to make Kendall into the killer. That's why, at the end, he smiles.
The "caretaker" is out on the lawn running sprints with haunting concentration. It's later revealed that Walter is actually Rose's (Allison Williams) grandfather, who really, truly did not ever get over losing to Jesse Owens in Olympic qualifications.
Because Froot Loops are colorful and milk is white, the separation of the two seemingly symbolizes the American Segregation era when people of color were forced to use different public amenities than white people.
In the beginning the rabbits were locked up in cages, symbolizing the loss of free will and movement. When Adelaide was switched, Red had more control of her body as she was from the surface. Since she had control she was able to free the rabbits from their cages.
By the end of the movie, Peele makes it clear through his symbolism that deer and Kaluuya's character Chris are intended to be mirror images of one another, drawing a parallel between black men being prized as trophies just like the taxidermy deer hanging on the wall in the room where Chris was held captive.
The scariest scenes in Get Out are the ones that recall shocking realities. Jordan Peele uses cross-cutting masterfully during the auction scene, as he cuts between Chris and Rose saying, “I love you,” for the first time, and the Armitages auctioning off Chris' body.
Earlier, Missy—a therapist—had offered to hypnotize Chris to cure him of his nicotine cravings. It's clear, both to Chris and to the viewer, that a trap is being sprung.
Like, “Rose's smile represents the arrogance of White America. She wants Chris to choke her because it plays into White fearmongering. She has made Chris into a stereotype other bad-faith racists can point to. She becomes a martyr.
There's another alternate ending (although it is unknown if this one actually got filmed or not) that is arguably just as depressing, which finds Rod breaking into the Armitage household to save Chris. However, he is already too late, with Chris already stuck in the Sunken Place.
In a video presentation, Rose's grandfather Roman explains that the family transplants people's brains into others' bodies, granting them preferred physical characteristics and a twisted form of immortality. The host's consciousness remains in the Sunken Place, alive but powerless.
Another, clearer explanation is that Jason knows about Adelaide's true nature, as he heard the final fight between her and Red. He knows that she's still his mom, but also knows that she may have done something terrible in her past.
We see this idea pop up throughout the film as the tethered begin holding hands in Santa Cruz and eventually (what seems like) the entire country. For those of you who didn't grow up in the 1980s, Hands Across America was a charity event where people would hold hands… across America.
For example, that Missy's use of tea cups to hypnotize her victims represents the long history of European colonialism tied to the tea trade. Or that the cotton Chris crucially notices sticking out of a hole in his chair in the finale is a visual reference to the Old South's use of slave labor for picking cotton.
Why did everyone stop talking when Chris went upstairs?
On first viewing, it's just an eerie moment, but in hindsight, the sudden silence is due to the party itself not being real. It's a front, a kind of play acting entirely for Chris' benefit. After all, he's who they're all really there to see.
Rose is constantly insinuating that she represents the epitome of a not-racist woman. She believes that she always has the better understanding of interracial relationships than Chris does and that she is able to make the better choices for him because she lives in what she believes to be a post-racial society.
In Get Out, the coagula procedure renders the African American victim powerless. They are forced into a metaphorical version of slavery where white people steal their bodies and use them for their own purposes.
In resisting the family's hypnosis, Chris picks and stuffs cotton into his ears, a racial irony that touches on the notable role that cotton picking played in the enslavement of black people.
The imagery in Get Out is saturated with the imagery with subtextual power, using the deer as a symbol for Chris' past trauma, the animalization and appropriation of people of color, forced deference to the white man and, finally, as an instrument of defiance.
