Why did Earth become uninhabitable in Interstellar?
Interstellar is a movie surrounding an idea about the future Earth which will become uninhabitable due to a widespread crop blight and a second Dust Bowl.
Because of the planet's proximity to Gargantua, the immense gravity of the black hole causes the planet to be roiled by massive tidal waves as tall as 4,000 feet. There is no sign of dry land on Miller, which may not exist because of the sheer volume of water on the planet.
Gargantua warps space-time; its gravitational strength bends Miller's planet (which, according to Kip Thorne, is as near to Gargantua as it can get without falling in), stretching and squeezing it toward and away from the black hole.

Is Miller's planet all water?
Miller's Planet was the Endurance's first stop. Upon landing, they learned that the planet was completely covered in water, with no land visible for miles. However, this ocean is not like the ocean on Earth, as the crew members are able to stand about shin-high in the water.
Miller's planet's extreme time dilation in Interstellar causes an hour there to equate to seven years on Earth for Cooper and his crew. Miller's tragic death on the ocean world is made even more heartbreaking due to the time dilation effect caused by the nearby black hole.
On his deathbed, Professor Brand confesses to Murph that he lied about his Plan A's prospects – that he failed to “reconcile relativity to quantum mechanics” and his gravity project needs much more data. She takes on the project herself and beams out the bad news to space, where Coop and Amelia receive it.
Murph was 10 years old when Cooper left. Cooper traveled for 2 years to the wormhole and subsequently lost 23 years in gravitational time dilation on Miller's planet. When he returns to the Endurance he receives Murph's message that she is now the same age as Cooper when he departed.
The statement that one hour in space is equivalent to 7 years on Earth is not accurate. Time dilation, a concept from Einstein's theory of relativity, does affect time in space relative to different reference frames, but the effect is typically negligible for most space travel scenarios within our solar system.
It's only when she returns to the room as an adult however that she realises the ghost is actually her father - the big clue being when Cooper wrote "STAY" in morse by knocking books off the wall while his past self was leaving for the mission, which Murph wrote down as a child and rediscovers as an adult.
It is then revealed that he and Professor Brand knew that Plan A was impossible and that the only contingency that allowed for human continuity was Plan B. Mann did not want Cooper to return to Earth with the Endurance, as he now needed it to reach Edmunds' planet with the remaining crew to start a colony.
Murphy finds and deciphers the message, and is able to solve “the problem of gravity,” enabling her to rescue humanity from earth and create a new home out in space. The tesseract collapses around Cooper and leaves him drifting in space.

We are shown that middle-aged Murph comes back to her room and tries to re-enact the part when she had locked herself up and got the message "STAY" from the ghost. She opens her notebook and right after that, she realises that the ghost was her father.
Murph burns all of the crops in order to make Tom understand he needs to leave the farm. Romilly is killed by a trap mine. Brand and Cooper barely escape back to the Endurance.
Who are the 5th dimensional beings in Interstellar?
The fifth-dimensional beings are not aliens; the fifth-dimensional beings are humans from the far, far, far future, who have evolved beyond the limits of the third dimension. These far future humans are now helping to create themselves by giving humanity the wormhole to a new galaxy.
Mann was marooned on this planet for 35 years, as evidenced by the 23-year time dilation on Miller, the two-year trip to Saturn and the launch of the Lazarus missions which predated Endurance's launch by ten years.

It took the spaceship 18 months to travel to the wormhole, then 23 years passed from exploring planet Miller. Murph said (cried) in the video to his dad that she is finally the same age as him when he left. Which tells us that she and her dad are both 35 years old toward the end of the movie.
The goodbye scene between Cooper and young Murph (early on in the movie when he decides to take on the mission) is emotionally excruciating. She begs him to stay but then refuses to speak to him when it is revealed he doesn't know when he will return.
While fans may continue to hope for an Interstellar 2, the absence of concrete plans or release dates suggests that the future of the franchise is uncertain.
The only ages we know for sure are Murph's at the beginning, 10, and Cooper's at the very end, 124. I used 35 for Coop's starting age because we know Murph is 10 and 25 years later (2 to Saturn and 23 Earth years spent on Miller's Planet) she says she is the same age as Coop when he left.
After finding his planet's conditions to be promising for human life, Edmunds sent a "thumbs up" signal back to NASA on Earth. He subsequently settled into hypersleep and awaited to be rescued. During this time, a rockslide occurred and destroyed his landing pod, causing Edmunds' death.
