Plot. In 2029, no mutants have been born in 25 years, and an aging Logan suffers as his healing ability is failing. Working as a limousine driver in El Paso, Texas, he and mutant tracker Caliban take care of 97-year-old Charles Xavier, founder of the X-Men, in an abandoned smelting plant in northern Mexico.
2028-2029. Logan is the very last movie in the franchise when it comes to chronological order, which is why the film has so much emotional weight, as it sees him burdened with caring for Xavier in his twilight years following X-Men: Days of Future Past.
Logan is almost 200 years old (per the movie timelines) in the film Logan. He has lived to that great age because his mutant healing power greatly slows down his aging processes and protects him from environmental abuses. But, the adamantium that the Weapon X project used to coat his skeleton is toxic.

The promotional materials for Deadpool 3 show that this Logan is younger than the one in the 2017 film and still has a strong healing factor. So, while a version of the character may have died at the end of one film, the Multiverse will always have the opportunity to introduce another version.
It is revealed later that she is not a clone, but the biological daughter of Wolverine. Like her father, Laura has a regenerative healing factor and enhanced senses, speed, and reflexes.
When the X-Men try to explain to Magneto that his plan will actually kill the world leaders, turning the whole world against mutants, he refuses to listen, but his plan is foiled by Logan and the X-Men, and Magneto is imprisoned in a specifically built prison of plastics.
Currently, Logan 2 is not in active development at Marvel Studios, putting to rest any expectations of a release in 2024. Nevertheless, fans can anticipate Hugh Jackman's return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in the upcoming Marvel Studios' Deadpool 3.
Selene is the oldest known human mutant. Functionally immortal, her millennia-long life is attributed to her ability to drain the life essence from other beings to extend her own existence indefinitely. Her name derives from the ancient lunar goddess Selene, daughter of the Titans Hyperion and Theia.
Logan fought alongside Captain America and Bucky during World War II, but he and Cap's trusty sidekick did not see eye-to-eye. Bucky was skeptical of Wolverine from the start of their wartime relationship, and even pulled a gun on Logan when the two were alone together.
Summary. Adamantium poisoning caused Wolverine's healing power to fail in Logan, leading to his tragic demise. The theme of government experimentation and toxic substances adds weight to Wolverine's struggles in the film.
Professor X was the cause of the X-Men's death in Logan. But the moment also proved how powerful and deadly he could be when he had control. When Fox was controlling the live-action films that followed the X-Men, it helped usher in a new era of superhero movies.
It was only towards the timeline of Logan that his Adamantium poisoning finally took hold and his body's healing factor couldn't keep up with repairing him. This is why he's older, slower, and his claws don't pop out as efficiently.

But Logan's near-future setting makes it the end of the series chronologically, and it provides a bittersweet conclusion to the long-running superhero saga. At the end of Logan, all the X-Men are dead, but the movie leaves a promising new generation of mutants to take their place.

Formerly believed to be a clone of Logan, but later revealed to be his biological daughter, Laura has been fighting alongside the X-Men for years, and recently fell while safeguarding humanity and fighting to give mutantkind a last chance at survival.
Laura seems like she may be mute — perhaps she is too damaged by a childhood in which she was trained to be a weapon. But she actually just doesn't trust anyone yet (and the one person she did, Professor X, doesn't make it to the end of the film).
As of now, Logan 2 is not part of Marvel Studios' active development, dispelling any notions of a 2024 release. However, Hugh Jackman's return to the MCU is confirmed through Marvel Studios' Deadpool 3.
Summary. Deadpool & Wolverine's first trailer reveals a first glimpse at Hugh Jackman's Wolverine joining the MCU. This Wolverine variant is likely a new variant of the character, as he sports his "Patch" tuxedo at one point and fights Deadpool in what seems to be the Void.
Logan needed to die. Succession's premise was a promise, and promises need to be kept. It's just a shame that, in retrospect, he didn't cling on for another couple of episodes.
