Cato. Cato and Clove were district partners and allies. During the feast, Cato showed concern for Clove and distress at her death. As Cato ran toward a mortally wounded Clove, calling her name, Katniss noted that his voice sounded pained, and despite its futility, he begged Clove to stay with him as she died.
Whereas at the feast when clove was dying, Cato ran and held her in his arms and begged her to stay with him. But this could have been merely because Cato was trying to survive himself with the tracker jackers and didn't have time to help glimmer. Or because clove was simply the last ally alive.
Alliance. As is typical in the arena, the 74th Hunger Games Careers form an alliance. This includes Marvel and Glimmer from District 1, Cato and Clove from District 2, and the District 4 female, whose district partner dies in the bloodbath.
Cato was somewhere there, within earshot. He was probably late in arriving, chased after Foxface, or trying to ambush Thresh. Clove sees the stone, about the size of a small loaf of bread in Thresh's hand and loses it. "Cato!" she screeches.
Since Cato had many bloody marks on his face, its assumed that he got these from either Thresh, or the mutts. It's assumed that it's the mutts, since they were claw marks. Cato fights Katniss and Peeta on top of the cornucopia.
What: The sneering leader of the Cobra Kai Career gang, Cato's last words in the book are appropriately demonic: ''Shoot me, and he goes down with me. '' The film grants Cato a little bit more emotion.
In the end of the movie when Katniss is about to kill Cato he says "I'm dead anyway. I always was". What does he mean by this? It means that during the arena, during his killing spree, he realizes that there's more to life than killing, and he's just a pawn in the whole scheme of things.
She loved Cato, and he loved her, but they couldn't tell anyone. No one would sponsor a Career Tribute who loved anyone, especially someone in the arena with them. They had tried to keep it secret, but, since they see the Comittee of Victors every day in training, it's hard to keep anything secret from them.

Clove came the closest to killing Katniss during the Feast, which no other Tribute had done. She could've won right then and there, but unfortunately, she provoked Thresh by discussing Rue's death. This caused Thresh to believe Clove killed Rue, so Thresh murdered Clove as revenge.
Cato sees his victory in the Hunger Games as the correct and natural outcome – after all, he's been preparing his whole life, and tributes from Districts 1 and 2 are most likely to be winners. But Katniss's high score in training, uncommon for District 12 tributes, earns Cato's attention and ire.
Why does Thresh save Katniss from being killed by clove?
During the feast, Thresh saves Katniss when she is pinned by Clove, killing the assailant before asking Katniss about Rue. Thresh is touched that Katniss had taken care of the young girl, and he feels that he owes her. As a result, he spares Katniss's life and warns her to run from Cato.
I've heard everything from: "They were districts partners with no connection" to, "They were in love" to "Cato groomed her" (consider, he's almost 18, and she just turned 15), to "They grew up together", to "They didn't know each other before, but formed a bond in the arena".
During the civil war, he joined Pompey and tried to minimise the deaths of his fellow citizens. But after Pompey's defeat and his own cause's defeat by Caesar in Africa, he preferred to take his own life rather than beg or receive Caesar's pardon. His suicide turned him into a martyr for and a symbol of the Republic.
Cato's moans are never-ending, and Katniss feels only pity for him and wants his suffering to stop. Morning finally comes and Katniss is able to see Cato below. Out of pity, she uses her last arrow to end Cato's life.
Cato threatens that if Katniss shoots him, Peeta will go over the side too. Peeta reaches to the gash the muttation left in his leg and draws an "X" in blood on Cato's hand. Cato realizes what he's doing just as Katniss shoots him, and when he lets go Peeta shoves him to the ground below.
In the book she is about 150-200 pounds, as she is described as being at least 50-100 pounds heavier than 100-pound Katniss. It is heavily implied that Clove is at least 15 and overall larger than Katniss. In the movie, Clove is smaller and younger than Katniss, being only 14-15 and weighing just at 100 pounds.
She takes off, hears a knife approaching from her right, and knocks it away with her bow. She turns and hits Clove with an arrow in the arm. A second knife slices Katniss across the forehead, and as the blood runs down her face, Clove knocks Katniss to the ground, pinning her.
Cato the Elder, their famous descendant, at the beginning of his career in Rome, was regarded as a novus homo (new man), and the feeling of his unsatisfactory position, working along with the belief of his inherent superiority, aggravated and drove his ambition.
Marcia, daughter of Marcius Philippus, was the wife of Cato Uticensis, for whom she bore three children, one of whom was Porcia, who became Brutus's wife.
In the books, Collins never declares when Panem is created in the wake of a global war spurred by a series of environmental disasters. An early draft of The Hunger Games script alludes to it happening about 300 years from our current future, so that's at least a window to work with.
