Though she is vomiting, dizzy, and disoriented, Katniss climbs back up the jungle toward the lightning tree, where she hopes to find Peeta alive. When she reaches the tree, she finds an unconscious Beetee lying on the ground.
Unable to go anywhere, Katniss prepares her bed in the tree. As night falls, she recognizes Rue, the girl tribute from District 11, in a nearby tree, and she realizes Rue has been there the whole time.
When she realizes Peeta is in danger she gets up and starts stumbling back to the lightning tree. She finds Beetee unconscious with a similar wound in his arm. In his hand is Peeta's knife, wrapped in wire that connects to the lightning tree.
She finds Haymitch, who tells her Peeta has already asked if he can go in to protect Katniss. Haymitch and Katniss talk about how it should probably be Haymitch who goes in. Both drink a great deal as they talk.

She is spotted and chased up a tree by the "Career tributes" from Districts 1, 2, and 4, and Peeta, who seems to have allied with them. Rue, hiding in a nearby tree, silently alerts Katniss to a “tracker jacker” nest.

How does Katniss get out of the tree?
Katniss unbuckles herself from the perch in the tree and high-tails it out of there. She runs from the heat and smoke along with the rest of the fleeing woodland creatures. Katniss realizes that the fire is no accident: it must be a ploy by the Gamemakers to flush out the scattered tributes and bring them all together.
Though both were cruel toward the other tributes, they had formed an emotional connection with each other. However, in the film, Cato and Clove seemed to have no relationship with each other beyond that of allies. Cato did not come to Clove's aid during the feast, although she screamed his name twice.
She makes her bed in the tree branches, her burns screaming, and then notices a pair of eyes in a tree beside her. It's Rue, and she's pointing to something above Katniss' head. This chapter reveals how much control the Gamemakers have over the Hunger Games.
The gift of ointment also restores her faith in Haymitch. She no longer feels alone in the Games. Similarly, when Peeta saves Katniss' life, we see that Peeta is still on her side, that he is taking care of her in much the same way that he did when he gave her the bread as a child.
Whose name does Katniss cry out at the end of Chapter 18?
Katniss calls out Peeta's name before she can stop herself. This chapter marks an important shift in the novel. With Rue's death, Katniss' hatred toward the Capitol and her desire for revenge against it are at their highest levels.
Toward the end of the novel, Katniss realizes that Haymitch has been keeping information from her and using her to help the rebellion, causing her to feel extremely betrayed. On the other hand, his goals are generally good ones.
Katniss didn't really have the time to consider romance when she was worried about survival. When Peeta and Gale both made their feelings clear, Katniss wasn't entirely receptive despite caring for them both. In the end, her feelings for Peeta and Gale diverged, with Peeta ultimately winning her heart.
She decides to take the two of them out with her arrows, but then remembers Haymitch's words before she left for the Games. Haymitch had told her to remember who the enemy is, and she soon realizes who the true enemy is. It isn't Enobaria, Finnick, or Johanna. Instead, it is the Capitol, who created these Games.
Katniss is angry with the fire starter for being so ignorant and for endangering both of their lives. Soon enough, a pack of the Career Tributes who have formed an alliance finds the girl camped out near Katniss and kills her. Katniss nearly falls out of the tree when she hears Peeta's voice among them.
He became a blithering drunk because the woman he loves was now certain she felt nothing, eventually falling for and marrying the coal miner Mr. Everdeen. Both Haymitch and Mrs. Everdeen knew who Katniss' real father is, which is why Haymitch is so protective of her even before she is the Mockingjay.
In the 74th Hunger Games, Clove was the only Career tribute who came close to killing Katniss twice — at the Bloodbath and at the Feast, and certainly seemed to have a deep hatred for her, perhaps because Katniss received a higher score than her.
She then attempts to kill herself with the suicide pill attached to her uniform, but Peeta stops her. She is arrested and placed in solitary confinement, where she attempts to commit suicide by starving herself and overdosing.
Katniss's mother is not the survivor that her daughter is. We also learn that Katniss's mother gave up a life with her well-off parents to marry Katniss's father, a poor coal miner. Peeta's father was also in love with Katniss's mother. Katniss's father, on the other hand, is almost entirely absent from the book.
Peeta urges Katniss to run and stays to fight fellow tribute Cato while she escapes. He survives the encounter with Cato but suffers a stab wound on his leg.
For one thing, Songbirds & Snakes is set 64 years before Katniss volunteers as tribute. That means there's probably a generation or two between Lucy Gray and Katniss if they are related. Fans also know who Katniss' mother is, so that rules out Lucy Gray being her mom.
Years later, Katniss will recognize Tigris in Mockingjay – Part 2 (now played by Eugenie Bondurant) as a longtime stylist for the Games. Snow and Tigris have long since fallen out, it seems—we catch glimpses of her disappointment in his ruthless path to power in Songbirds and Snakes.

Cato never loved Glimmer he was just trying to make Clove jealous. And the truth about Cato's love comes out when he ditched Glimmer with the tracker jackers but he tried to save Clove when she almost died.
