Jane, an American from Baltimore, Maryland, is the daughter of professor Archimedes Q. Porter. She becomes the love interest and later the wife of Tarzan, and subsequently the mother of their son Korak.
Jane, along with her father, teaches Tarzan how to speak English, as well as about human culture. Meanwhile, Tarzan begins to fall in love with Jane and she with him. Soon, a ship arrives to take Jane and her father back to London, and Jane asks Tarzan to come with her to London.
As an 18-year-old, Tarzan meets a young American woman named Jane Porter. She, her father, and others of their party are marooned on the same coastal jungle area where Tarzan's human parents were 20 years earlier. When Jane returns to the United States, Tarzan leaves the jungle in search of her, his one true love.
A few years later, Tarzan grows into a boy and likes to tag along with his best friend, Terk, and some other gorillas. One day, while tagging along, Terk jokingly tells Tarzan to get an elephant hair off an elephant tail while Terk is busy with some other gorillas hoping to keep him away.
Her own child having been previously killed by the same leopard, Kala adopts Tarzan as her own, though Kerchak disapproves of this. Kala is portrayed as the aunt of Terk, later Tarzan's best friend. Kala does not die in the movie. The character was voiced by actress Glenn Close.
In the midst of this, he and Jane started to fall in love. While she was teaching him human culture and how to read, he taught her how to swing on vines. As he went to give her flowers one morning, he was upset about finding that it was time for her to leave to go back to England.
He disdains Tarzan but gradually begins to accept him in adulthood after Tarzan proves himself by killing the leopard Sabor (responsible for killing Tarzan's parents, as well as Kerchak and Kala's son) and saving the group from the hunter Clayton (who leads a posse of poachers hoping to capture the apes and selling ...

Terk, referring to herself Terk is a major character in Disney's 1999 animated feature film, Tarzan. She is a rowdy, tomboyish, and fun-loving gorilla and the best friend of Tarzan. She is also Kerchak and Kala's niece, making Tarzan her human adoptive cousin.
