Amber Freeman (Mikey Madison) is the secondary antagonist of the 2022 film Scream, the fifth film in the Scream franchise. She was a teenager living in Woodsboro and a friend of Tara Carpenter, the film's secondary protagonist.
Early casting calls and scripts portrayed Amber as formerly in a relationship with Tara Carpenter. These elements were cut from the theatrical release for unknown reasons.
She eventually redeems herself realizing how much she cares about Tara and becomes best friends with her and Nesia Bridger, ready to stop Roman from causing more mayhem. She is portrayed by Mikey Madison, who also portrayed her in the canon.

In the original script and in casting calls, she was depicted as a lesbian, and the ex-girlfriend of Amber Freeman. These elements were removed in the theatrical release, rendering it non-canon.
That being said, she wasn't killed by a Scream 5 killer. With a modern twist, Ghostface Facetimes Tara, showing that they are in Amber's closet, threatening to kill her if she doesn't “play a game.” The game is a series of questions about the Stab franchise.
Sam now enjoys a secret romance with neighbor Danny, played by Josh Segarra, and Tara and Chad also spend much of the movie flirting before finally kissing towards the end.
Tara Carpenter is nearly killed by Amber Freeman. Amber firstly slashed Tara's stomach, then broke her anckle, pierced Tara's hand and finally stabbed Tara twice in the back and once in the chest. However, Tara survived the attack and became the first victim, who was not killed in the opening.
Given the time frame of Scream 6, Tara is approximately 20 years old, while Sam should be about 26. Filming for Scream 6 took place from June to later August 2022. This would make Ortega only 19 at the time of filming since the actor's birthday is September 27th.

Though Sam is ostensibly the protagonist of Scream, it's her younger half-sister Tara that stands out among the cast in both it and its sequel, Scream VI.
