When Mushu noted Mulan is in love with Shang, she tries to deny it, but ends up smiling as if she realizes she is in love with Shang. After Shang retrieves a letter from his father (actually forged by Mushu), Mulan joins Shang in preparing for battle against the Huns.
Shang survives the accident and arrives in time to stop the wedding but ultimately Mulan is saved by Mushu who, posing as the mighty Golden Dragon of Unity, frees the three princesses from their vows, and marries Mulan and Li Shang himself causing Mulan to forgive him for his actions.
Although Captain Li Shang does not, in fact, make a man out of Fa Mulan in the beloved 1998 animated film, he does manage to inadvertently reveal her womanhood and win her heart. Stoic at first but eventually revealed to be gentle, Shang became a childhood crush (and bisexual icon) for many '90s babies.
The animated movie also featured a romance between Mulan and Li Shang, but Disney confirmed that Shang is not in the live-action adaptation. Instead, Mulan's love interest is Chen Honghui (Yoson An), and in an early cut of the film, the two share a kiss.

Like most Disney films, she does fall in love with another soldier, her Captain. However, he believes she is a man. She acts selflessly to help stop the Huns and her Captain sees the courageous and caring person she is on the inside.
Personalities. Mulan is a loving girl who is always a brave and bold tomboy. When her country needs it most, she disguises herself as a man and goes off to fight. She uses courage and determination to win the day.
Unfortunately for fans of this princess, Mulan II did terribly. Critics regarded the film as a huge disrespect to the original Mulan. This discouraged Disney from pursuing her story any further, so Mulan III was shelved and Ana Ming never made it anywhere.

The biggest issue is this film features way less action than it's predecessor and way less Mulan (she practically disappears in the middle of the film). Mulan's bickering with Shang is also very badly written. Yet, minor complaints.
