The film stars Kodi Smit-McPhee as a young hunter who encounters and befriends an injured wolf during the last ice age, with Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson as his father.
All about Keda (the boy): Seventeen-year-old is a Solutrean, part of a creative, resourceful Cro-Magnon tribe living at the end of the last Ice Age in the area we know as southern France and Spain. During this time, most of Europe was uninhabitable and covered in ice 3km-deep.
The "wolves" in the film are a mixture of real wolves, wolf-dog hybrids (a breed of dog called a Czechoslovakian wolf-dog), and CGI. The rudimentary dialogue spoken throughout the movie is a language invented for the movie.
Alpha is played by Chuck, a relatively new breed called a Czechoslovakian wolfdog. They were introduced in the 1950s, when the Czechoslovak military bred German shepherds with wolves.
Make no mistake: “Alpha” is not paleoanthropology. Although largely accurate in its depiction of the roots of canine domestication in a hunting context, it is not above corniness.
Though the wolf does get stabbed by the main character (Keda) when Alpha first attacks, Keda takes pity and lets the wolf rest. He does not die. Keda is also attacked by a bobcat, in which Alpha steps in to help, where he is injured with blood shown, making Alpha fall down later in the movie and unable to keep going.
Alpha and her pups are formally welcomed into the tribe and grow up in the care of Alpha and Keda. The final image of the film shows the tribe and their domesticated wolves, hunting together.
True Alpha describes the method by which a werewolf can attain the status of alpha werewolf without having to kill and take the status or inherit the status from another alpha. According to Dr. Deaton, the process by which a werewolf rises in status to alpha due to their own willpower and strength of character is rare.
Ultimately a bleak and disturbing portrayal of real-life events related to the escalating violence between drug-dealing youths; the story is set in the affluent suburbs of Los Angeles.
She is also the first major recurring antagonist to be zombified in the comics. She also has the second longest lifespan of any of the three major antagonists. Also, each of the three major antagonists has a different status: Alpha is a zombie, Negan is alive, and The Governor is dead.
To Keda's surprise, Alpha has given birth to a group of wolf pups. The Shaman commends Keda and Alpha for bringing new life to the tribe. Keda and Alpha fully recover, and they are seen watching the sunset with the pups.
Alphas was seen by many as another of Syfy's not-really-sci-fi shows and its concept seemed all too familiar, so it never succeeded in building much of an audience.
Female Alpha Pregnancy: Females can sometimes get pregnant by male betas and male alphas. However, female alphas, can not impregnate other alphas or betas. Male Alpha Pregnancy: Males can get female alphas, female betas, and omegas pregnant. Male alphas can not get pregnant from anyone.
“Alpha” status implies intense competition among pack members to improve and/or obtain the highest rank. Leadership positions in most wild wolf packs are determined by parents being dominant over their offspring.
Alpha is a gripping and visually spectacular tale of peril and survival, which looks at the origins of the human-dog relationship. Although Alpha is rated PG, it has a sense of constant peril and some scary and emotionally charged scenes, which make it more suited to older children.
The movie Alpha that was directed by Albert Hughes, was based on a story by him as well. I can't find any record that it was ever adapted or released in book form.
An epic adventure set in the last Ice Age, Alpha is a fascinating, visually stunning story that shines a light on the origins of man's best friend. While on his first hunt with his tribe's most elite group, a young man is injured and must learn to survive alone in the wilderness.
