Captain James Hook is the main antagonist of J. M. Barrie's 1904 play Peter Pan; or, the Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up and its various adaptations, in which he is Peter Pan's archenemy. The character is a pirate captain of the brig Jolly Roger.
Captain James Bartholomew Hook is the main antagonist of the 1911 classic play Peter Pan by the late J.M. Barrie, and its film adaptations. It is said that Hook was Blackbeard's boatswain, and that he was the only man that Long John Silver ever feared.

Why did Hook turn evil?
The iconic pirate villain of J.M. Barrie's original Peter and Wendy, named Captain James Hook, is bent on killing Peter Pan because Peter cut off his hand and fed it to the crocodile. Barrie also says Hook worked for Blackbeard and was the only man Long John Silver was afraid of.
So, why exactly do Peter Pan and Captain Hook hate each other so much? Well, in most cases the story is usually portrayed as being pretty simple. Peter cuts off the pirate captain's hand in a duel (the hand is typically then consumed by a crocodile) and Hook…well… let's just say he isn't thrilled with Peter afterward!
Unlike Barrie's original play and later Peter Pan adaptations, in which the same actor play Hook and Mr. Darling, the latter's role is performed by a different actor, Alan Tudyk. In this version, Hook is revealed to be an old friend of Peter's and the first Lost Boy, but he left Neverland because he missed his mother.
Peter Pan ends with Wendy taking her brothers as well as the Lost Boys back to her home in Bloomsbury, and Peter Pan returning to live in Neverland. We learn that Tinker Bell dies soon after the main events of the novel, and that Peter has forgotten all about Hook, the Lost Boys, and Tinker Bell, because he is a child.
Though sometimes ill-tempered, jealous, vindictive and inquisitive, she is also helpful and kind to Peter. The extremes in her personality are explained in the story by the fact that a fairy's size prevents her from holding more than one feeling at a time, so when she is angry she has no counterbalancing compassion.
In Barrie's original works, the Lost Boys leave Neverland and grow up, while in the Disney films they are merely tempted to, but change their minds and choose to remain with Peter Pan. In Return to Never Land which takes place many years later, they are still with Peter and have remained children.
Rather than aging and being concerned about mortality, Peter Pan lives immortally in the flawed, yet exciting, land of Neverland. While readers may interpret Neverland as a heaven-like place, the story itself does not suggest that Neverland is heaven, nor that the children are dead.
At first Mrs. Darling did not know, but after thinking back into her childhood she just remembered a Peter Pan who was said to live with the fairies. There were odd stories about him, as that when children died he went part of the way with them, so that they should not be frightened.

In Barrie's play and his novel, Tink tried to communicate her love to Peter, but it was unrequited, too mature an emotion for the boy who never wanted to grow up. The implied romance was more emphatic, but the visual medium of the animated movie allowed it to be more visceral.
When Wendy and Peter meet for the first time, she begins to care about him too. Romantic feelings between them are hinted at, but never articulated. In the 2003 film, the feeling is mutual and Wendy shows her love when she gives Peter a hidden kiss in order to save him from Captain Hook.
Wendy's biggest hero was always her mother. She always wanted to be a mother herself and I think that leaving Peter was not a choice she made lightly. But Peter cannot move on and grow older with her, so she had to leave him behind. He was almost a metaphor for her childhood.
Wendy takes on responsibilities of a mother for the Lost Boys, but Peter refuses to follow lead and act as a father. While Wendy's actions support the theme of motherhood in the story, they also potentially reinforce stereotypical gender roles, suggesting that her only use in Neverland is to take care of the Lost Boys.
