Jack Merridew is the main antagonist in William Golding's 1954 novel Lord of the Flies and it's film adaptations. He is the self-appointed leader of British boys stranded on an uninhabited island.
Roger represents the sadist, the individual who enjoys hurting others. His evil motives are different from Jack's, who pursues leadership and stature and enjoys the thrill of the hunt. Roger just likes to hurt people.

Why was Jack evil?
Jack in Lord of the Flies is power-hungry and impulsive. These traits make him a bad leader. He is also insecure, a trait that drives him to commit savagery and violence.
Jack is insecure and hurts others primarily to show that he is in power, while Roger is purely sadistic and goes very far with his actions (i.e. raping pigs for his entertainment instead of simply killing them for food and killing Piggy for no reason except sadism).
Ralph is the athletic, charismatic protagonist of Lord of the Flies. Elected the leader of the boys at the beginning of the novel, Ralph is the primary representative of order, civilization, and productive leadership in the novel.
As we see in the next chapter, Ralph, the boy most closely associated with civilization and order, destroys the Lord of the Flies, the governing totem of the dark impulses within each individual.
Piggy's real name is never revealed. Instead he is treated as though he is one of the pigs on the island - also like one of them, he is brutally killed. Piggy remains an outsider and a victim throughout the novel, though Ralph does come to respect him.
Right from the start, Jack has a savage nature. He is a cruel bully and picks on those who are weaker than himself. Throughout the novel he gradually turns into a real savage with no sense of justice or what is right. He began to dance and his laughter became a bloodthirsty snarling.

At the end of Lord of the Flies, most of the boys survive. A littlun goes missing after the group builds a fire that gets out of control, and can be assumed to be dead. Simon gets killed by the group after they mistake him for the beast.

Perhaps acting out of some guilt he is unable to acknowledge, Jack becomes paranoid and begins feeding misinformation to his tribe, a typical practice of dictatorships to control the collective thinking by controlling the information that is disseminated.
