Split is no exception from this criticism. Its antagonist (James McAvoy), diagnosed with dissociative identity disorder (DID), has twenty-three distinct personalities occupying one body.
Introduced in Split, Kevin Wendell Crumb's traumatic origins and the subsequent Dissociative Identity Disorder it caused set up his eventual transformation into the fearsome Beast.
The Beast is a cannibalistic monster with super strength and other abilities, who believes that those who haven't suffered are "impure". Casey was able to survive her encounter with him was due to her past trauma, which makes her pure.
Earlier in the film via flashbacks, we learn that Casey had been getting sexually abused by her Uncle John (Brad William Henke) ever since she was five years old. The abuse continued for years, as John became Casey's legal guardian after her father passed away.

At the end of that movie, the Beast lets Casey, one of the teenagers he has kidnapped, go—all because she has suffered sexual abuse throughout her life. (He only eats innocent girls who have never suffered.) The villain distills the movie's philosophy in one creepy line: “Rejoice! The broken are more evolved.”
The camera then tracks over to reveal Bruce Willis, reprising his role of David Dunn (evidenced by his nametag), who dryly confirms the old villain's identity as Mr. Glass and walks out. It's a plot twist that reveals the characters of Split and Unbreakable have been in the same world all along.
Due to being abused while she was young, she has become emotionally withdrawn because of her uncle, who was sexually and physically abusive towards her. Her life was turned upside Down again after she was taken - alongside Claire Benoit and Marcia - by Kevin's 'Dennis' personality.

Producer and director M. Night Shyamalan and producers Marc Bienstock and Jason Blum's (2016) latest film, Split, is a horror thriller where the main character Kevin, played by James McAvoy, suffers from dissociative identity disorder (DID) and kidnaps three teenage girls.
Glass is a 2019 superhero film written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan, who also produced with Jason Blum, Marc Bienstock, and Ashwin Rajan. However, she didn't survive long enough, having been stopped by "The Beast" and then brutally killed.
When Dennis takes one victim (Sula) into a private room, Casey whispers to the girl to “pee on yourself” as a defensive strategy. Given Dennis's germaphobia, the ploy works, although it soon becomes evident that sex slavery is not on the table.
Night Shyamalan's Split drew inspiration from the real life court case of Billy Milligan. Milligan's landmark verdict of not guilty based on Dissociative Identity Disorder still captures public interest today. Shyamalan's portrayal of DID in Split is based on Milligan's case but takes many creative liberties.
Recently, "Barry" refused to allow "Dennis" or "Patricia" their turns, in part due to "Dennis"' voyeuristic tendencies and obsessive–compulsive disorder, and that both appear to worship "The Beast", a yet-unseen 24th personality.
So the Beast does indeed emerge – McAvoy becomes ultra strong, his skin gets super hard, he gains the ability to climb impossible walls (somewhat unconvincingly) and his voice gets even creepier. And he does indeed completely eviscerate and eat two of the girls.
