Black Manta realizes that Aquaman was right, but makes one last effort to kill him in desperation. He is quickly struck down by Aquaman, saying that Black Manta never really had a chance to begin with.
Manta's just a guy in fancy battle armor who can shoot beams from his eyes and small missiles from shoulder launchers. In other words, he's an underwater version of Cyclops, and that means Rhodey can defeat him.
In the end, the heroes are successful, Black Manta dies and Aquaman reveals the existence of Atlantis to the United Nations, hoping the underwater civilization can be recognized as a sovereign nation.
Black Manta to Aquaman. David Hyde, better known as Black Manta, is one of the main antagonists of the DC Universe, and one of the two arch-nemeses (alongside Ocean Master) of Aquaman. Out of all of Aquaman's foes, Black Manta is the one that held the strongest grudge against him.
Shin questioned him on his discovery to which David prompted that this will give him what he seeks. Black Manta was reborn and now possessed by the spirit of the undead Kordax, allowing him to rebuild his armor.

Why does Aquaman hate Black Manta?
Manta's current origin story from Geoff Johns' Aquaman run explains that Black Manta hates Aquaman after the hero killed his father. Once again, this was used in the first DCEU Aquaman movie, and it seems to be propelling the villain's actions in the sequel, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, as well.
That issue revealed that Manta was kidnapped as a child and forced to work on a ship. He attempted to call out to a passing Aquaman one day but failed to attract the hero's attention. That was the source of Black Manta's undying hatred for Aquaman and Atlantis.
Aquababy was murdered by Black Manta, an event that changed the Aquaman storyline. Black Manta kidnapped Aquababy and put him inside a sphere, slowly filling it with air, as Aquababy was unable to breathe outside of water. Black Manta had Aquaman fight Aqualad in exchange for Aquababy's life.

Trivia. Only the Pre-Crisis version of Black Manta is Pure Evil, since New 52 Manta genuinely loves his father and wants to avenge him after he was killed by Aquaman in the New 52.
Because of this, Manta's origin of his autism was only brought up 36 years after the character's introduction in 2003′s Aquaman #8 “Paint it Black!” where it was revealed that prior to becoming Black Manta, David Hyde was sent to Arkham Asylum due to his autistic condition being simply recognized as a criminally insane ...
However, Manta revealed himself to be alive and well during Brainiac's invasion, hiding outside Atlantis, prepared to smack anyone who is sent hurdling in his path.
Black manta suit is far more durable than that of batman as it is an Atlantis tech. Giving him an edge against explosions and damage. Not withstanding the suits' ray gun, powerful enough to set a house on fire and even kill aquaman, this might be his greatest advantage against Batman.
Additionally, he is a excellent swimmer and has access to advanced technology. Black Manta's suit and equipment affords him various abilities: his suit raises his human physical abilities to superhuman levels (strength and durability) both on land and underwater.

In the comics, Jackson (birth name Kaldur'ahm) was originally born to an unnamed Xebellian woman and Black Manta in the Kingdom of Xebel, the young infant granted powers due to extraordinary circumstances. As an infant, he is saved by a younger Mera, who leaves him on the surface and arranges for him to be adopted.
The culprit of the murders, thefts and the framing of the Amazons is revealed to be the witch Circe, who "kills" Diana by reverting her form back into the clay she was born from. Later, Wonder Woman is brought back to life and together with Donna Troy, battles Circe and ultimately defeats her.
In the alternate timeline of the 2011 "Flashpoint" storyline, Mera is the Queen of Atlantis and killed by the Amazons at some point. Her death prompted Aquaman to cause Western Europe to sink into the sea, hoping to destroy New Themyscira as well.
