Katniss eventually awakes and realizes that a day or two has passed. Then she remembers that Peeta saved her life and wonders why he did it. She also remembers that she got the bow and arrows, and finally she feels like she has a chance in the Games.

Paylor abolished the Hunger Games, destroyed the arenas, and set up memorials for the victims of the recent tragic events. She also pardoned Katniss, allowing her to live out the rest of her life in District 12.
Peeta used the dyes to paint a picture of Rue after Katniss covered her with flowers when she died. He says he wants to hold them accountable for killing Rue, and Effie tells him that that kind of thinking is forbidden. Katniss then tells the team she hung a dummy of Seneca Crane.
Katniss feels betrayed, most of all by Haymitch, who used her and Peeta. Eventually she wakes to find Gale there. He's badly injured and tells her the Capitol bombed District 12 after the Games. He got Prim and Katniss's mother out in time, but the District 12 is gone.
Another thing revealed in the epilogue: Katniss and Peeta are parents! That's right, Everlark fans, Katniss and Peeta, the original Victors of District 12, have two kids: one daughter and one son.

His roses have a strangely potent fragrance that seems unnatural. He leaves a single, perfect white rose for Katniss in her old house when she visits what is left of her district. This is a sign to Katniss that she can do nothing without his knowledge, and it serves the purpose of unnerving her.
While the Hunger Games film never talked about it, the Catching Fire novel explained why she could only communicate through hand gestures. Katniss briefly mentioned that a previous stroke could have caused Mags' garbled speech. However, post-traumatic stress disorder could have also caused her speech incapacity.
